Pliego Villarreal is the bassist of a very popular band called Kinky (also from Monterrey, México). They called him “primo” (cousin) because they have the same last name but they are not related.

I don't think you know him, he's Pliego Villarreal, bass player in a Mexican band called "kinky", (is not their relative, in Monterrey Villarreal is a quite common last name)

I think I listened to Evolve, Disciple, Enter Sandman, Animosity, Choke, Money, Martirio, and Kool Aid Kids about a thousand times before I kind of accidentally bumped into Revenant. This song goes straight to my soul every time I hear it. I'm convinced it comes straight from Pau's. Sorry though, crowd, if you can't carry a tune, please don't try to carry this one.

This performance launched my respect for them into outer space. I admit that when I first heard this on the album I really didn't think they could reproduce those delicate three-point harmonies live. But then they come up with this performance and blew me away. I'll never doubt these amazing ladies again.

They booked a headlining show at a famous venue in Mexico city last Aug. Tickets sold out in 4 hours. They then arranged another show the following Monday. It also sold out. For the 2nd show they arranged a number of special guests. They also hired pro team to film it. Top level patreons got the video on Dec 24th. 2nd level patreons got 2/3 of the show so far. Only one has song has been released for everyone. 22 more to go. The song released by them from the Aug 29th show is Animosity

Pau does introduce him in Spanish as “ nuestra amigo y primo” which translates as “ our friend and cousin” ….maybe she was just kidding that all Villareals are related somehow.

@@MTH58 Villarreal is one of the oldest and common surnames in Monterrey, I guess since the founding of Monterrey, that would be more than 400 years. So yes, it's basically a joke, but also in Monterrey they use the word primo (cousin) as "bro" or "dude"

I can't wait until the pro shot version becomes publicly available... I REALLY want to see it, but can't afford hundreds of dollars to join higher patreon for it, so I'm impatiently awaiting it's release LoL. Mostly just because there's that one very happy person in the crowd singing along extremely out of tune next to the phone for this video. 😀

Absolutely. Releasing a couple songs from that show on a regular but unpublished schedule is a great source of promotion for them because the edited pro stuff is so damn good, in my opinion it’s theatrical release quality. I haven’t seen it all yet either but I have seen these fan videos which actually are not that bad, except for the occasional misguided audience attempts to sing along. The summer outdoor festivals are the worst enemy of audience recorders.

The lighting here (the entire show) is gorgeous, absolutely stunning. Don’t have the full name of the guitarist handy, he is a popular Mexican musician whose last name is also Villarreal so they referred to him a “cousin” though he’s not really related.

@@don-music 100% unfounded speculation but until they have new material to release I think they can always release 1 or 2 of these tracks to keep them in the news. The last concert movie in the theater I saw was the 40th anniversary of The Cure at Hyde park. It was brilliantly filmed with perfect sound and I think the show from the Metropolitan is easily equal quality. I want to see it on a BIG screen.

I believe he was also one of Dany's guitar teachers early on, they also had Pau's drum teacher as a guest for a song and Ale's bass teacher who got them all to write the songs that became the EP Escape The Mind as a guest in this show. This show was a huge event for them and they wanted to make sure to include the ones who helped them reach their dreams, by having them be guest artist for the 2nd sold out show in the historic venue. Yes in the introduction Pau calls him Primo witch is to call him cousin to us but they are not related, but are very close as you can tell by the invitation to perform with them.
