no, an e-bow makes the string vibrate constantly giving a violin like effect, hence the name "e-bow" or "electronic bow" as you play violin with a bow.

Really great band! I never listened to mix like that before (in progressive rock) and I really like it. Though I don't really like overuse of purely electronic sound on Deus Ex Machina album.
