Great video, but one thing to note about Flesh and Stone- aoe of the aura doesn't change the 1.5m distance for the maximum damage reduction effect. It only changes the interpolation, meaning for maximum effect, the mobs have to always be 1.5m away from you or less, however, the distance to 0% damage reduction effect is at the new aura radius (essentially 2.8 * (1 + aoe modifiers %/100).

I am a minion connoisseur ever since open beta and I had the exact same thoughts as your rant. Ever since I saw the new ward stuff I've been thinking of putting something together but I started as a chieftain using rallying cry to buff chains of command animate weapons with a marohi erqi + all the other warcries just to do something that's not been done before. Ran into the problem that my AG just died alot since I was a chieftain and had a lot of points into warcries and not a Necro with innate survivability for minions. Your build is such a fresh take I am going to roll it as well. Thank you!!

I can imagine this would be the most frustrating shit to play in hardcore, but in softcore this makes complete sense. Every once in a blue moon you'll get randomly oneshot, but the rest of time you have super efficient defenses

I don't really get randomly one shot tbh. I think the problem is hardcore is it's just missing general defense, maybe like 20% more of everything and it's good. But it's not like a "I didn't block so I die" build.

Nice video! About the +1+1 minion wand, you can actually use 3 socket resonator with corroded, metallic ,suddering fossil and ilv82 Covoking wand to hit +1+1. The average tries is 18 times, which i think is pretty good, even though this way is no chances to hit t1 minion damage.

As I was going through Frost bearer builds today, I finally decided Naw, I don't want to do it with how most people were gearing / playing. Right as I called that, Saw this on the builds thread you made, and finally, someone made something with ward. that caught my attention, even forgetting the fact I was just looking for basically this exact idea without luck. Thanks for posting and showing it off. This has given me the green light to go ahead forward with it, instead of being scared it's gonna be another currency sink with no return. Swapped over from Zoomancer as soon as I saw this and been loving it so far. Thank you for coming up with this take! It actually feels like a real minion build zooming around cursing things while the spectres nuke the screen. I've put about 12D into it so far (majority of that is from +1 wand and explode chest) and while i feel pretty tanky with ~150kEHP, my single target damage is still lacking. Was hoping you could take a look at my POB and see if you could point me in the right direction for upgrades! Also, i'm running 5 frostbearers, 1 perf guardian turtle, 1 perf forest warr, 1 perf hydra ..Wont let me post my POB link without the comment getting auto deleted. RIP

Hey, explode chest? This build doesn't have an animate guardian. Honestly the answer when it comes to damage is probably jewels and gems, get awakened level 5 gems, and get jewels that have 2-3 damage mods. Can't help too much more without PoB.

There are a lot of them so I don't want to just make it a comment. For example: Replace a spectre with Perfect Warlord, that gives me endurance charges, so I can have new anoint, that means new aura. It's a huge chain of events lol.

Was excited for this league, trying some melee (didn't like it). Always was a minion person, and went BAMA... was good, but I didn't do much with it. Was going to give up until I came across this video. Put it together for like ~2 div (all the currency I had) and just did about 98% of all content. No uber pinnacles yet, but, it's been a blast. I am looking forward to some trade league improvement stuff. Don't have much currency yet, but I do think there's still some stuff that it can be improved on that doesn't cost ~20+ div like awakened gems n stuff.

speaking of creative, you can crank the damage way up if you drop some defences and get sormblast mines + minefield, you would need to play more actively though if i were to drop 2 sockets for the setup, it would be flesh and stone which is too situational to be useful since it needs you up close and artic armor, by replacing it with aspect of the crab which synergizes with block while freeing up a socket.

I actually tried this, and I liked it. But I find it's a bit of a PoB warrior thing. During difficult content standing still and throwing mines, and the enemies not moving around etc is not always easy. I still liked it though.

It's a bit too much work for me to make a progression video. Mapping is fairly boring but I'll add some to the follow up video with the build in it's final form. Progression: Armageddon Brand (1-70, finish campaign) Spectre w/ Vaal summon skeletons (Spectre on 5L, skeletons on 3 link for feeding frenzy + added cold support) I farmed wraith lord and dark seer with the above, wriathlord is a common drop, so you'll get it fast. Make the T17's easy if you're having trouble, can even use a scarab of bisection if you really want to cut corners. Then I just farmed until I made a giga body armor, got shield and belt, did the build.

I'm not a minions guy but I'm interested in giving this a shot in HCSSF fresh start. Are there any obvious pitfalls to avoid if I try and roughly follow the desc pob (dark seer, pre-iron flask) and just substitute svalinn/ynda/wraithlord for rares and use some supporting skeletons like you would've on league start? Everything non-unique looks very achievable except I'm not familiar at all with crafting minion gear. The bone rings look like they might be good to reforge speed on, to hit minion atk/cast or minion MS. Or bound fossils? I have no idea what's typical for minion builds. Don't know much about convoking wands either. But I'm experienced with crafting for other archetypes. Anything important to know about early spectres too? It should be one crushclaw, one perfect forest warrior, and the rest frostbearers asap right? Assuming that perfect warlord is as elusive as expected... Finally, any recs for spectres to use at start of maps until verisium for forged frostbearers?

Potentially, I've looked into it but couldn't really find a way to justify the mana reservation, which is already a bit tight. You'll see in the "Final Update" video I have switched some auras around.

Maps I kinda never get it, so it's nearly always up. This character basically just walks through maps barely being targetted, and when I am it's unlikely I get hit. I've just gotten to maps with this character and set everything up and I love it! The only difference I've made is dropping flesh and stone and arctic armour, and using determination + Molten shell in Svalinn, since its an elemental skill it casts every time we block. Seems to work so far but I'm only 74 currently. Edit: Realized Molten shell doesnt work well with ward so took it out.

@@mtspolako Well, I mean more that it doesn't synergize too well with Ward since it lets through 25% of the damage, so it doesn't stop ward from triggering. There is a lot of socket pressure in this build and I'm unconvinced Molten shell does enough to justify a socket, especially since our main weakness is DoTs, which molten shell doesn't help against. I might give it another go though as I'm up to Tier 15 maps now. My initial assessment was based on white maps.

Hi! I've always liked Ward, and this league I really hoped it would become a viable defensive layer, instead of being relegated to looping - glad to see you're making it work! I've been playing with Lucky Block on Gladiator, which also feels amazing (and I'm sure this will be even better without the "Recently" clause). However, I can't yet do T17s (For Wraithlord), and I also just generally dislike minion management via Spectres or Ancestral Guardian. Is there any reason the build wouldn't function as well on something like, for example, Summon Skeletons of Mages? Or, any other more traditional summon. I have the belt, and I'm sure I'll find the shield eventually given the Black Knight just pops up in maps.

Hey! I think the build could function fine with any minion build. Stronger minions like Ranged Animate Weapon could potentially be optimal in lots of cases as well. If you don't like the pure spectre playstyle, I would recommend doing Ranged Animate Weapon. I believe it's much better than mage skeletons, because mage skeletons do benefit from different unique body armours.

Many, spirits of fortune, serpent warriors, forged warrior. I think those are weaker but promising. I think Forged Piercing Demon are the highest single target spectres in the game, but they deal fire damage so idk.

Been enjoying the build a lot, the only thing that irks me is the AI of the frostbearers. It feels pretty awful if u dont stack on top of the mobs. Do you think there's options to fix this and/or run diff spectres in a similar setup? Maybe defilers?

Yea tbh I've play tested hundreds and spectres, and even the best AI's aren't too great. These guys have bad AI, but they still have better uptime on attacking than any melee spectre in the game.

I ran lots of ritual and had omens of blanching. Otherwise you can jeweller recipe before you 6L. Or just use bench with 2 blue or something.

Yes I did it without the wraithlord. Just play 4 Forged Frostbearers + random shit AG + vaal summon skeletons (just to tank stuff). Get tanky, slow but steady.

How do you feel about Maata's Teaching vs. a +minion spell wand?

Mataa's teaching's critical modifier only works on attacks. So it would not work for these spectres, they cast spells. Good wand > Dark Seer > everything else.

Loving the build. I see you have Frenzy charges for minions selected in the PoB but I can not seem to find a source of them. My specters don't seem to generate them at all.

I was originally using a Perfect Forest Tiger for those, but forgot to remove them when I added haste. I have fixed this for the "final product" video I am making. It will have many optimizations, and I have improved the gear a lot.

Does the feeding frenzy support "minions are aggressive" tag from the raise spectre 4link also make the spectres from the 6 link aggressive?

No it does not, only modifies the link it is on.
