Yep most of them have their own unique seasonings and marinates for their chicken. They're always great for take-out when we're having a bout of indecisiveness on what to eat lol Edit: yeah the chicken oil juices they add to chooks changes the game!

It is really hard to decide. I wanted to dislike Sr Pedro because the staff was kind of dickish, but their crappy attitudes aside, the chicken was really good. Andok's was still my favourite and you are correct, JP. The juices from Chooks is a game changer

Andoks and baliwag are my go to chicken rotisserie. I remember when i was younger, there were free atchara given. The bottled ones are quite expensive now but that's my go to side/sauce for the chicken.

Before I left for the US. There was only 2, Andoks and Baliwag. Andoks was the first. Every chicken are pre marinated before sending to each branch. I don't know if they do it in house, before they only have a push cart. Andoks was my first choice. It's the closest to the taste and way the chicken is cook in the Visayas. Except we use native chicken.

I prefer Baliwag lechon manok, but Andoks wins the sauce for me, Baliwag sauce is too sweet. Sauces are there for Filipinos who always eat it with rice, but I agree, if you have the means and don't eat rice, just the chicken by itself is awesome.

Late comment. Original Chooks is the one to get from Chooks. Sr. Pedro is good but needs Soy-Calamansi with chili (Sili) dipping Sauce. Sweet liver gravy is standard with Lecheon from Manila.

Before I went to prison theresonly 2 choices of lechon manok in manila. Baliuag and Andoks only. Now I got justice and become free, theres a lot of choices now of lechon manok and I'm so excited to try all!

Baliwag and Andoks lechon manonk are the OGs, the survivors of the lechon manok boom in the mid-80s although Andoks came in a little later. Sr. Pedro is said to be the best in mid-south because it originated in Cebu. Sr. Pedro is your traditional roast chicken, therefore the sauce is just vinegar and soy sauce. (available upon request). Choor-to-Go is fairly new and commercialized, its like the Mcdonalds of lechon manok...

choks is disgusting. they fry the roasted chicken afterwards and it tastes like enbutido or chorizo. though the last time I ate was probably a decade ago maybe they tweaked the formula by then

I felt like vomiting after eating it, so I avoid it. Andoks, Baliwag, Sr Pedro are the real lechon manok OGs with authentic taste, natural chicken, and authentic texture.

My ranking: #1 Andoks #2 Senior Pedro w/ ToyoMansi and chilli sauce. #3 Lechon Baliwag (skip the sauce, andoks sauce is better) #4 Chooks to go. (Too sweet for me compared to all of them especially compared to 1 & 2) If you can, you should also try Andok’s Lechon Baka & their Inihaw na Liempo. Both are superb.

I agree 100% with Andok's and I think If I had to rank 1-4 mine would be idenitcal to yours. Maybe a swap of Sr Pedro and Baliwag, I can't decide on them. As to the Liempo I have been asked countless times to make a video featuring Liempo from multiple places so that video is in the planning stages. There were most likely be a part 2 to the lechon manok as people have given me the names of multiple other places to try as well. You'd be very correct in your assumption of the sauce, that is a liver-based lechon sauce. I don't love it on lechon manok's dark meat, it's something I typically only use if the white meat is a bit dry.

Whenever you’re back in Cebu Geoff, you have to try Joules lechon manok!!! So far they’re the best in Cebu. Their main branch is in Talamban, Cebu City but have expanded to Liloan and Consolacion. A must try lechon manok!! 😊😊😊

Chooks has warming ovens. There is a good chance that the dry piece I encountered was because of broken skin and it dried out in the warmer. As I got further into it it was more juicy and then when mixing it all into the juices atr the bottom of the bag even more juicy

Chooks' is the only oven roasted among the 4, the others are chargrilled that gives that unique smoky taste that's why Chooks' marketing slogan is "Masarap kahit walang sauce" (Delicious even without the sauce) because they rely on that juices, obviously their unique approach on it just to be different. And as a spicy food lover like you, you gotta try that habanero chicken. It's a must!! Btw, my favorite would still be Andok's, not just because I grew up eating them, it's already part of the culture, they have set the standard and paved way for the others.

@@PureDetour yeah everyone has different taste. During the late 80s and early 90s, the Lechon Manok became popular with hundreds of stalls opening up along the streets! It cost less than a dollar back then (50php)! Imagine a whole chicken enough to feed the whole family for 50php! But then the price of chicken went up and the stalls gradually closed. Andoks, Baliwag, etc. were the only ones able to exist until now.

Andoks Spicy Dokito chicken burger for 80 peso (CAD $2) is always fresh and really amazing! Way better than Jollibee chicken burger

Chooks, Baliwag and Andok's aren't what they used to be in terms of taste, plus with the inflation hike their price per roast soared and makes it almost unaffordable, in my opinion. It has always been Sr. Pedro due to their use of marinade that hits right to the bone. Great review good sir!

Sometimes you may get a chicken that has been done 15-20 minutes and they just haven't sold it quite yet. It may be left on the back to stay hot and some of the extra juices are starting to evaporate. Some are just finishing as you walk up and you get lucky with a perfect one and just has rested enough before they chop it.. I envy you for this taste test.. If I was there we could get whole chickens and cut into the whole bird as we sit down to try some. That would be even juicier.

@@PureDetour I was going to suggest a planned trip to the mountains searching for the story of Pinikpikan. Special prepared chicken or duck sometimes .. Done by the Igorot people in the Cordillera region. This has not been shown much and very hard to get one on video start to finish.

It would take a few days to put together a video .. Find a family that practices this preparation and cooks with it.. You might need to offer some payment to show all this process and get it on video. Maybe need to edit parts out and make it video friendly.

Yeah, I replied to your other comment regarding the pinikpikan. I looked into it several months ago. Outside of eating it, KZbin absolutely will not allow it to be shown. I have a lechon video that showed zero slaughter and only prep of the pig and I had to heavily edit it just to get it playable onKZbin. Even with the edits, KZbin demonetized the video and they won't put into the feed at all. Basically the only way anyobdy will ever see it is if they search my channel directly for it

I grew up in Manila but prefer a lesser known brand from Aklan (near Boracay) - RAMBOY's. They're better known for lechon liempo (roasted pork belly) but their lechon manok is amazing too.
