Suay! Great to see you again. Thank you for the welcome. What else should I eat here? Will be in Chiang Mai for a few more weeks and probably heading back to Bangkok for several more before I leave again.

So funny you mention the Rincome food court! Back in 2001 that was the very first place I ever ate in Chiang Mai. Through a series of mishaps I arrived in Thailand without my luggage or my bank card. That was all resolved the next day, but I was in Chiang Mai with nothing but a paid hotel reservation and a couple thousand baht in cash. I ate like a king at the Rincome market! My favorite part: getting a cup of hot sweet corn with butter, condensed milk and some jelly beans. Best of all, I was able to buy some clean clothes to hold me over till I got to the bank the next day. That market saved my b**t and gave me a very positive outlook on my trip.

Great story my friend. Was it a busier place back in 2001? I have been by there multiple times and there is never anybody there.Both times I have eaten there there is nobody there. On a Friday night at 7 pm there is nobody there. Both times I have eaten there I was the only person at the market. It baffles me why nobody goes because they have pretty good food there

That sauce might be น้ำจิ้มแจ่ว "Nam Jim Jaew", another common sauce in Thailand. It's basically made of fish sauce, palm sugar, chili pepper and lime juice or tamarin paste for the sourness (up to the chef, if it's thick then that's tamarin.) In some restaurant, they might add tomato, coriander or grounded roasted rice, etc.
@PureDetour3 ай бұрын
With the chicken? It turns out it is a tamarind sauce but the name if it escapes me. It is very sweet compared to Nam Jim Jaew which I am very familiar with and love. I had a local tell me the name of it but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called
@-.miiow.-3 ай бұрын
@@PureDetour Then, it might be น้ำจิ้มมะขาม Nam Jim Ma-karm. The ingredients are almost the same as Nam Jim Jaew but it goes heavy on the tamarind and sugar. Some restaurant might add "pickle garlic juice" in it and they also heat it up to make it thicker. I might be wrong thought. Have a nice trip. I love watching your vids so much. Even if I am Thai, many places you shows are hidden gems that I didn't even know them before and I will mark them for my next trip for sure.

@@-.miiow.-, That is 100% what it was. I remembered it sound like Nam Jim Jaew and the last word started with M but google results turned up nothing for it. Thank you for reminding me of what it is called. It was driving me crazy . Very happy you like the videos and thank you so much for tuning in

@@sadohrs8431, on that side of the world most of them will be somewhat boring. If you can find it and like curries I would recommend Penang Curry. Another to try would be Khai Soi. I am going to be doing a video dedicated to Khao Soi while I am here

Everybody is entitled to their opinion my friend. For me, I have travelled the world and it is by far my favourite dish I have eaten in any country. And yes, that includes any dish I have eaten in Italy or Mexico (my 2nd and 3rd favourite cuisines)
