@30:58 I believe the movie you thought of is Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged me. Specifically when Austin and an assassin fall out of a multi-story building and Austin uses the spy to break his fall, the assassin is still alive after the fall taunting him, the line is said "why won't you die?!"

Yes correct, I looked it up afterwards. Apparently there's one with Freddy Krueger vs. Jason as well, but I don't watch horrors.

12:28 Black should have played Kd8(unpinning with tempo), and if white saves rook with Rxa7, then e4 wins knight.

Hey Ben I need to address your thought process. A few times you were jumping on potential lines that just weren’t there. Forgive me if you analysed this later but this passage made me cringe a bit at 16:53 “So if I take here, he’s got knight takes” and here you indicate Bxd7+ followed by Nxd7. “Which is kind of equal”. No Ben, it’s not kind of equal because you follow up with Rc8 mate. You see what I mean?

My brain is wired goofy :-) I do need to learn to apply my thinking in more concrete ways though.

Regarding your Freddy Krueger course, against the Vienna have you looked into 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Bc4 f5 ? Fits right in with you other openings and has an impressive win rate despite almost never being played.
@ChessBootCamp2 күн бұрын
Mate, that's an excellent suggestion! I don't much enjoy playing against the Vienna as Black, but that might be a way to go. For example, after 3. Nf3 f5 we've gone into the Winawer, which is already part of my repertoire. I shall certainly explore the line you propose, and might even include it as part of my course. Remind me to give you free access when it's live!

@@ChessBootCamp I've not had a chance to play it much but I have studied it a lot (can send you my study). I was surprised there is absolutely nothing online about it anywhere, maybe you can come up with a name for it. White only faces it 1 in 1,000 games so the slight advantage they get is quickly lost if you know a bit of theory (as Lichess database proves). As I also don't much like playing the Vienna, especially the F4 variation, this line basically sticks two fingers up at white as it gets in the f pawn push first.

Well played Ben. The idea of giving up the rook for bishop and pawn was good, maybe you could have pushed the pawn to h7 first. I am glad there is love on the horizon. We all need that. You are not broken mate, you very talented and creative, this often leads to boredom. Thanks mate.

Thanks uncle Jose! It was one of those cases of almost having too many options, which can be one of the trickiest scenarios. But that's why I play the openings I play, so I shouldn't bitch and moan.
