Back when you were seeing inconsistent foam response, many people posted comments warning you that the foam you used required humidity giving you advice to either mist water ahead of time to increase the humidity OR use two solution foam that requires no humidity.

You need a borescope/endoscope to see into the potential void areas after you drill the holes. There are many inexpensive ones available that will work with an iPhone or iPad. If you get one long enough, you could possibly snake it up under the cold roof to see if the foam is coming out there.

I hope you solved air leak with this foam injection. What concerns me, and I think not just me is the simple fact, that you kinda stopped serious work on the house. It is 100% normal for Alyssa, but, if I am on Jessie's place, I will work 24/7 on this house entire winter and summer. I understand that house in this state covers your basic needs, and it is big step from living in RV, but you are expecting baby literally next few days. In about 6 to 10 months you will have sweet crawling explorer that wants to check everything around, mainly by taste. As a father of 3 grown kids, I have some experience with toddlers, and trust me, building site is not a place to have one around. Currently, your house is so dangerous for small kid, that I don't even want to start explaining why. If you lost your energy to build - forget about "debt free house", and call building company to finish this project. Life and plans rarely intersects, and you don't owe anyone anything - just do what you need to have happy and healthy kids and family. Sorry for bad English.

Jesse, did you look inside at the top of the ceiling with the FLIR camera? An inspector used one when he inspected our house and determined we had a plumbing leak in the upstairs bathtub. It didn't even stain the sheet rock. He also told us when he first got the camera and was playing with it, he found a spot on his wife's breast. She had a mammogram but it wasn't detected but FLIR saw it. They did a biopsy and luckily it was benign. FLIR cameras are amazing!

I have watched all the struggles you guys have had with the SIPS, including leaving the outside of the house exposed to insects and weather while you wait to finish the electrical wiring. I think if I was building a similar timber frame house, I would build a double stud wall for isolation, then use spray foam between the outside studs and in the gap, then after I finished the electrical and plumbing, I would spray more foam between the inside studs. That would let me finish the outside of the house with at least house wrap if not the finished siding. While these thoughts mean nothing for your situation, at least by sharing your experiences, you are helping other folks decide if SIPS will work for them.

I saw some kondens problem 13:30 out in your video. That indicate cold air coming in there during winter and meet the moist air inside and make kondens. In my mind You supose to have plastic before the sheetrock. so the inside air dont go out in the construction and make condense. IF you done have sheetrock and plastic on your exterial wall, you can check if you have condense issue there now. insulation will hold on the moist long tile and make mold.

11:23 That gap between the panels.... If you are trying to make an unconditioned attic space for a cold roof, then wouldn't those quarter inch gaps between each panel need to be caulked? Seems like the perfect place for air to find the cracks in your sips. 20:28 That water damage would worry me.

The foam won’t go into the cold roof with your membrane that you layed down right? Unless you drilled to far I’m thinking that the waterproof membrane that you put down will stop the foam unless I’m getting it mixed up.

Can't beleive we had a cedar roof on a house. During the day with a dry cedar roof the sun would come through. When it rained the cedar expanded and no water at al in the attic. Never seen one again. This was in a Northern state. In winter no problems with snow. That nice old house has multiple new owners and no cedar roof.

You guys probably need one of the cheap endoscope cameras; you could take a long camera and stick it up the roof to make sure you haven't got foam in the cold roof, cut it out using a knife on a long ass pole and the camera if it is up there and overall inspect the deep voids you've created. these things are absurdly cheap now and I've got one because someone brought one over for a barrel maintenance thing and it was mind blowing to find out you can get an endoscope for like $30 Depstech is the brand I got and it's surprisingly amazing for the price. I'm sure you'll find uses for one.

Can you use the FLIR with a drone, rather than climbing the roof? There is some stuff we use for electronics called "Freeze Spray" (~ -50 degrees C) which, when sprayed onto a surface, leaves a layer of frost (rather expensive). You could spray a "believed good" area and then spray a "suspected bad" area for a frost deposit comparison. Just be careful to not spray you....instant frostbite.

You could add a loft up there too. You couldn't put enough foam in that one spot to hurt the function of the cold roof. You can't push through that plywood with foam. Why a month or more from your post on Instagram to your videos pushed to KZbin. Like 4 to 6 weeks. What's the point of doing that? A few months?, so that means 6 months before the video?

When are you going Start looking into the Generator’s on the market and researching what will be best for your family’s home security when the power goes out?????? You are adding to your family, are you going to put in a Whole House Back-Up Propane generator in case the main grid goes down next winter? I don't think the Solar or your small generator's will give you as much power if the power goes out for days. It could and will happen. Your wife enjoys the heater in the bathroom, right? Do you have a backup heat source for this house???? If you do I missed this in the building of your home. Jesse, if you and Alyssa felt the Plane was a good investment then the generator should be on that same list. Don’t wait any longer it will take some time to put this in place before winter. Thanks to you both for listening, also hope this helps you. When your first born comes, LIFE will change for you both. Toby

Frost: For everyone who was asleep during their Heat Transfer course... VERY IMPORTANT FOR FARMERS & GROWERS!!!!! Heat is transferred by conduction, convection, and radiation. Frost depends on radiation. Every particle on earth that can "see" the night sky, radiates its heat to the black night sky ... like a flashlight shining into the darkness. [... unless it's cloudy; clouds are like a blanket.] The heat the particle radiates into space makes it 7° Fahrenheit -- 4° centigrade -- colder than it would otherwise be. So, if freezing temperatures will harm sprouts, you can't plant them until you're certain the air temperature will stay above 39°F (4°C) at night. Same for harvest time: before frost can damage it in the Fall. This is also the condition for those who use roof frost to check their insulation. PS: the air leak will also allow condensation in that area. As long as it's vented, this should dry and shouldn't cause a problem. Otherwise, you're depending on the interior vapor barrier to stop problems. Regards, A
