I have been using this pillow for a little over 3 years now and nothing else can compare. Love it! My girlfriend just got one of their newer pillows that is softer and a bit taller which seems good as well. Similar experience at first with the smell, I think I just aired it out for a day and it was fine to use. I also put an additional pillow case on it which may help reduce the smell at first. Never been happier with the durability and comfort.

Love My Pillows. I have 6 of them and will probably he getting more soon. I didn't care for the regular ones though. But I love the firm and won't use any other pillow. My guests like them too, although some do like the regular better. Can't see having to do ANYTHING to 'fix' a pillow, especially at that cost!! And he acts like having to do all that work before he could use it, was no big deal. Lol. Silly!

I have this pillow, there was no smell. Almost every other review I read practically had something to say about this odd odor that came from the pillow. I ordered one because I always wanted a Purple mattress and one of their pillows, so when I had money for a pillow on Amazon, I got it! When it came I took it to my room, opened it up as I got ready to hold my breath, but... There was no smell. I shrugged to myself and proceeded to use it. I love that pillow!

So my bro works at purple after the conplaints of white powder a job was made at the factorys called plucking where thay hand plucked the powder but after a coupple weeks of my bro working that job thay got a automatic plucking macheine ill ask by bro about what the smell was ill try to remember to update you edit: so i asked my bro and fyi he's only been there for 1 year and he has no idea about the smell so ya but he got us purple pillows for Christmas he acsadentely said 40$ just like the pillows so theres that ill keep you updated edit 2 so i got it it had a bit of a smell i also noticed that the things to raise it are not in production anymore this was my final edit

I absolutely love my purple pillow, it keep my head cool enough to allow me to sleep without sweating. For me it is worth every penny for the good nights sleep, I must have spent double its price on other cool pillows and gel inserts before finding one that actually allows me to get a full nights sleep.

I know I'm late to the party but, for those who don't know, the chemical smell in the pillow is formaldehyde. It's used for keeping insects from getting into them and feeding on them while they are stored in warehouses. Most all fabrics, foams, mattresses, even some wood furniture items...like press wood are treated with formaldehyde. A lot of things that will be stored in warehouses for unknown amounts of time needs to be protected from insects. That is what that strong chemical smell in new clothing is too. That's why they say you should wash new clothes before wearing them...and bedding too. Hope this helps someone out there. 😊

I bought a Purple Mattress a couple of weeks ago and it came with 2 free Purple Pillows. As much as I love my mattress, I can't say the same for the pillows. They're very heavy for a pillow and too flat for me. The first night that I used them I woke up around 2AM with a sore neck and switched back to the pillows that I used before. With almost all vacuum-shipped, synthetic mattresses and pillows. Remember these things are brand new. They're going to off-gas for a while after they've been made, The cushion material, foam, any adhesives. And getting vacuum-packed IMMEDIATELY after manufacture stops the off-gassing process. I've found that it's generally best to unpack them. Give them a wash, then a couple days to let the smell dissipate. I have a body pillow that basically took 10 days to fully fluff and about the same amount of time to finish off-gassing.

Randomly seeing this in my recommended videos, I never had the chemical smell issue, oddly enough. I got mine as a Christmas gift several years ago and honest to God, I've had to lug that effing thing everywhere I go bc it's literally the only pillow I can sleep on without waking up with neck pain. Not to mention that I have super sensitive hearing and it's the only pillow I can't hear fibers moving around in. 10/10 would recommend this pillow. I've been using mine for about 2 or 3 months now, and I gotta say. It took a couple weeks to adjust to a new pillow, but I can't see myself getting a new one. Ever. I can see this pillow lasting me a lifetime lol. It super comfy, always cool, (which is important for me cuz I live in the desert where even with AC, summer nights get real hot) and with the inclusion of 2 pillow boosters with the purchase, I was able to find my preferred hight. I absolutely love this pillow. Getting it out of the package I didn't notice any abrasive smells. I literally had to dig my nose into the pillow to smell anything, so sleeping at night wasn't an issue there. I didn't have to wash mine out luckily. However the white powder that was still loose, and in the pillow case got into my eyes which was irritating. I just shook out the pillow, and gave it a quick wipe with a damp washcloth. I also turned the pillowcase inside out, and shook any remaining powder off. After that it was fine, and I was able to use it the day it came in without issue. The only problem I had to work around is that if you wanna prop the pillow up against the wall to sit up, you won't have much luck lol. It's doable, but it's a real hassle. My initial impression was pretty judgemental. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, and contemplated returning it since I could get a full refund. But I decided to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did.In the end, it was 100% worth the money for me. Once I got comfortable really using the pillow, and making it mine, I fell in love with it. One of the best pillow on the market for people like me. If you like a firm pillow, this is probably the best one. Because it's not just firm enough to hold your head in place, it's strangely soft enough to make it feel like you aren't laying on anything at all. I'd say try it for yourself if you're really curious cuz I was almost persuaded to not buy it based on others opinions, but when I tried it myself, I didn't have issues. You get like 3 months to get a full refund, so if you end up not liking it, you don't lose anything. So if you're curious, just go for it. You won't regret it either way. It's a win/win situation lol

2022: Great products. I work a 12-hour day and if I did not have a purple seat cushion, with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I couldn't do my job. I also sleep with a thinner purple cushion under my hips, because my cheap husband won't buy a new mattress, and my hips get severely bruised from SLEEPING (side sleeper). The purple cushion got rid of the bruising! Highly recommend this product for bed bound people and others that are in wheelchairs or similar issues. I have this and I love it. They even threw in a free long one for me because they took forever to send it. I didn’t have any odor on mine, thank God. Only complaint I have about them is they took way too long to send it over- waited about 2-months almost. It’s very cool, flat, thin, and firm. No weird powder set or none of that. Anyway, it’s exactly what I’ve needed after trying a lot of different pillows that would heat me up and give me a nose bleed or make my neck so stiff that I can’t move. (Yes, I do not sleep on my shoulders laid up on the pillow. Never have; never will. Don’t know why tf you’d do that anyway). Another con: It is pretty heavy, though. Also makes for a pretty good weapon against home invaders if I can’t get to my other things first.

I have had more problems with pillows since my traffic accident than I care to admit. I have tried so many different kinds, but nothing worked for me. One day I was napping, and I was getting a neck pain from my pillow, so I grabbed my little fuzzy jacket and used it instead. I have never used another pillow again! I bought a small microfiber lap blanket, and it works great!! Save your money! The blanket cost only a few dollars at Wally World and it's easy to clean too!!

I have a Purple mattress and love it. I would recommend spending the extra money for the solid frame; if you decide to purchase one. I took advantage of an exchange and sale, so the price wasn't bad. And yes, even memory foam pillows have a horrible smell. I didn't notice that smell from my mattress, but I was also gone fora day when mattress was delivered. Also, your dog is adorable.

Well, there might be some issue with it. Washing rubber like that might cause it to start to harden and fracture over time, so if they would wash it after manufacture and then store them for an extended period of time, it might become an issue and washing them as they are ordered isn't practical at all. I don't know, I'm guessing what MIGHT be the reason.

Bought a Purple mattress and pillow, and bamboo sheets many years ago. Pillow came with a worthless inflatable portion and I found a piece of 1.5" foam and slipped it underneath to give a little height. Recently switched it out for a MyPillow, which I'm not entirely comfortable with. Wife has a contoured pillow for me (CPAP user) for Christmas. (She's upset it came in an original box which I saw the pillow on the outside). Purple Mattress is awesome! The bamboo sheets were OUTSTANDING! Any other sheets take away from the ability to stretch to contour with your body. I bought a Purple 2 mattress (different size bed) and it's a little too firm for me, but still pretty good. It does sleep cool, so in the winter time you might need a blanket underneath. In summer, it's awesome!

Best pillow I've ever had is a Sobikawa Buckwheat-husk pillow. The filler was the husks of buckwheat seeds. Stayed soooooo cool. Contoured to my neck. Comfortable for head as well. If the pillow was too thick, just move your head side to side to push the husks away. I miss that pillow so much. Thanks Dr. Watanabe. If anyone knows where I can find one, please comment on this post.

The smell is from the packing material they use so that the honeycomb doesn't stick together in shipping, so "getting rid of the smell before they send it out," isn't really an option.

Got one of the original Kickstarter (or whatever it was) pillows. I've been using it ever since. Never used the blow-up insert. Instead, I stick an old compressed pillow under it. I've always slept with multiple pillows anyway, this just means that I can adjust how everything balances. Shoulders on the lower pillow, neck supported on the edge of the Purple Pillow, and cranium cradled in the meat of the Purple Pillow. If everything else would stop conspiring against me, I'd probably sleep well. ;)

I've owned this pillow for a year now. Mine did smell, but not so bad that I had to wash it. The smell disappeared quickly though. This pillow is definitely meant for firm pillow lovers, I don't think this is a "soft" pillow at all. It's very supportive and concaves directly down and not across the pillow, so it was good for my neck. I also used the boosters, and the version I bought did not have the things to attach the boosters to the pillow, so mine would shift off center every few days, that's my only complaint.

@@N3XUS_T4RG3T I'm not losing sleep over dust literally no other pillow I've ever seen contains, being on my pillow. I personally don't have to pay a premium for that kind of inconvenience. I'm hardly miserable for thinking I deserve more than that kind of bullshit. I find having to wash something noxious off an cushion sent to me to sleep on, to be a defining example of the word.

We have these pillows for a year and they are the best ones we have ever had. No powder or smell when we got them and they come with height adjustment pads. Very breathable and cool at night, never had any neck pain after we switched on them. Of course, I don't think it would fit every single person but they are great for us.

I used to hate flat pillows, I always stack pillows. But for like 3 year I would wake up every day with a terrible headache. Doc thought I was just prone to headaches / migraines. Then my brother bought those foam pillows and told me to try it. Even though I hate how low my head is. And am less comfy. I no longer get morning headaches.
