You can go down to foam suppliers and buy the foam of the same density for pre-filter. They will cut it to size for you and you can glue/sew it together and make your own. A lot cheaper than OEM Kubota parts. I have a T1670 which looks in mint condition but I've had to repair some of the lower cowling attachment points that have broken due to age and plastic wear on the stress points. I fibreglassed internal Kevlar panels, orange tinted the epoxy and now they are bullet proof heaps stronger than original plastic holes. I also run the blower over my mower/engine after every use which keeps all the debris off it. Also.., keep it garaged, Kubota's aren't cheap.

Thanks for the tip! That's great. I have started (the last few years) using a blower after every mowing session also. It does really help!

would be interested in how you sharpen the blades

That might be a future video. Right now when I checked the blades, they're good and sharp. This mower has the mulch kit on it and does a nice job.

That was 1 dirty air filter. Since it sits right in front of the mower it has to get dirty very fast. I like to clean the foam cover on the air filter mid season and put a fresh set of blades on both mowers, not new blades. I have 2 sets and just put a fresh edge on them. My wife likes to find rocks and trim them! lol

I think that air filter must not have been replaced for a few years. We just picked this machine up off of a Facebook marketplace ad. I know the oil hadn't been changed for 2 years (according to the date on the oil filter). The blades were surprisingly sharp on this one - I think because the previous owner lived in more of a "city" area than where we live. I don't think they had many sticks and rock to mow down. :)
