Q: What has God already told me in his Word that I haven’t started doing yet? www.40dayfriend.com A: This is a really tough question that requires a lot of thinking. After pondering for a while, I think that my response pertains to Proverbs 3:5-6, which states: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (NIV) The issue here for me is simply pride. God wants us to trust him with all of our hearts, not some, not most, but all. Unfortunately, I often put my trust in things other than God, which brings me to the next point. I regularly attempt to lean on my own understanding. I try to use my own strength, knowledge, and abilities to make things happen the way I want them to happen. Sadly, this results in a lot of anger, frustration, and delayed blessings. Instead of trying to make things happen on our own accord, God simply tells us to submit to Him. Again, he wants our obedience in all of our ways. I like to be obedient when it suits me, and I tend to disobey when it does not. I should start trusting God with all my heart. I should stop trying to lean on my own understanding, and instead, by faith, submit to the will of God in all of my ways. If we do this, God promises to make our paths straight! I need to fight the prideful urges to take matters into my own hands, and instead give my fears, worries, anxieties, problems, and challenges to God, and let him do the sorting.
