The original bag flaw compared to the Chanel thread is minuscule. She’s going to sell the bag anyways. The Chanel unicorn bags are never uniform, some a great, some just got screwed by the color placement, unless you are willing to inspect in person and accept the look it’s not worth it.

I actually like the white tongue. It makes the silver hardware stand out more than it would against the lilac and matches the strap. It breaks up the irredescent gradient in a classy way. I just hope she is happy with it and won't keep mourning the faulty one. Mel has taken a lot of stick over her pickiness, but I do think if you're paying such an extortionate amount of money the bag should be perfect! That said, I would gladly take the faulty one off her hands with a fault discount haha x

Such unique pieces that have random color gradients or patterns are simply not for people who want to have control over everything, or are petty, or are bothered by the smallest details. How is someone like Mel, who finds a tiny flaw in the leather that she can hardly see herself, but *_"she just knows it's there"_* , how is a person like that supposed to cope with the fact that the tongue on this bag has not the perfect color!?!? It was clear that a bag like that wasn't for her. Or? Who would have thought that Mel would find something about this bag that bothered her!? I! I bet she would have loved to have the tongue, and the top of that bag on the body of the other bag! And maybe something else that she would have preferred different... I bet she was talking in the video or with friends and family about how she would like to mix it with this and that, and maybe a little more purple and less blue... I would bet! She could have ignored that little mark, but I believe in her head she was already thinking about resale, and if that mark would lower the resale value.

She knew they were unique because of the ombre effect. If I were her, I would have ignored this little flaw. She could have told the responsible saleswoman that there was a defect, she could have asked for a credit or a refund of a few percent. Or she could have just said, "No thanks." and can keep their own bag. That would have been better. But I suspect Mel was already thinking at this point that she would want to sell the bag sooner or later and that this flaw could affect the resale value. And that's why she swapped the bag anyway...

It's not so much that customers are doing Chanel's QC for them but that Chanels internal QC standards are different. Why does she keep on bringing these bags home if they don't meet your standards to begin with. Just skip it if it's not for you.

If someone is getting close enough to your bag to see that then you need to have a talk to them about boundaries. Though I can see how it might affect resale value.
