Can’t she just buy a bag and enjoy it??? I really get turned off any time someone talks about resale value. Unless you are talking about a brand like Dior, which you can buy preloved so much cheaper than new. If I buy a bag, I buy it because I love it. If I use it for 20 years and it gets worn, I will throw it in the trash if it’s worn out and be happy that I enjoyed it for so long. Who cares if you can resell it???

Color transfer and jean price don’t go hand in hand. The most expensive jeans which are made with Japanese denim are dyed with natural indigo, which color transfers like crazy. She could wear trousers and dresses, likewise Chanel leather can be treated. I pre-treat my bags.

I can’t begin to articulate how annoying these nitpicking customers are, especially since we’re required to line up outside of luxury boutiques now due to the pandemic. I was waiting to enter Louis Vuitton and the customer behind me was asking every few seconds when people inside would be finished, that she was in such a rush, waiting wasn’t fair, and asking if they could bring a pochette outside for her to determine if she would buy it or not ! I get the impression from Mel’s videos and the way she carries herself that she is this type of customer. No one enjoys this, whether you’re an SA or a fellow customer.

Honestly Amelia, I too was very surprised about the denim story because I know that all us bag obsessed lovers always care so much about our little treasures and I feel like we would never make such a mistake with a brand new light colored bag we just got... Personally I’ve cleaned my bags (white, black, muted and vivid colors) with water based wet wipes with “no alcohol” in them and it worked wonders for me. I do spot test multiple times before I go all the way in though.

Re baby wipes, In college I once used an Avon Skin So Soft oil moist towelette to buff out a scrape mark that I caused on the front bumper undercarriage of my Dad's Mercedes from driving too close over one of those cement bars that they put at the end of parking spaces. Baby wipes/moist towelettes are magic in so many ways!

There was no colour transfer. It was all constructed to promote the repairs company, for reasons that must benefit her in some way. Lastly, wearing the designer branding on a jumper...it just makes me cringe. Mel, Sophie...if you're going to wear a Chanel/whoever clothing item, fine; but why the tacky parading of the logo?

Good point about the sponsored issue - I feel that a lot of lifestyle you tubers (Josie and Lydia especially) do these all the time and it is so fleeting that it is not SUPER obvious, which i think makes it more deceptive. For example, I watched Josie's recent video where she went into London and she did her hair on the train with the new cordless GHD which was obviously sponsored as she had to have had someone take the video footage of her. Nowhere in her video did she disclose she was gifted this, or that it was a in any way sponsored. Very sneaky...

i dont know. I think if you are paying that much for a bag, the color of it shouldnt rub off on clothing. If it is the clothing rubbing on the bag (i guess that is the case with Mel), that is one thing. but I also had a very expensive designer bag (Dior) and the dye on the bag got on my white cardigan. the area of the bag that rubbed against the cardigan was actually faded. I couldnt believe how unnecessarily fragile that bag was considering what it cost. That would have happened whether i was wearing light or dark colored clothing. When I told the SA, I was able to return the bag. I was very upset because I really loved that bag.

This isn't the problem of dye coming off the bag (I have never heard of that). But dye from your clothes coming off on a light coloured bags. Jeans are the usual culprit.

I am running into more individuals turning over bags for high prices that you could purchase lower from the boutique itself. Almost as though people have no concept of how to sell and when. Okay so you know how I said I found you on a whim. True but I think I know why. I'm in this substyle of fashion in Japan that has several boutiques, one being a small one called Angelic Pretty. Angelic pretty has been around since the late 70s. Beautiful dress, nice detail, and great motif. Like a bag but a dress. The substyle is called Lolita. And within that subculture (Lolita) there is a code of unsaid conduct you have within these boutiques. If you make a reservation, just be on good behavior. Main point is Be Respectful and have awarenss. But it's simple, the SA's are so nice. Well, I got done watching a video about an "influencer" who did similar habits as Mrs purse on fleek and upsetting the Tokyo store. I think that's how I found you. A channel similar to yours (called Scarfing Scarves) was talking about the similar situation. How the influencer also had a similar response to Mrs purse on fleek, mouthing off and not not seeing both the pros and cons. There was/is no self awareness with both ladies. Unfortunately. But anyways I do like your content. Even if I don't buy bags (other than a few Betsey Johnson ones I have) I get the whole conversation. It applies to all fashion, basically. Also if there was a holy grail and end of journey item within Lolita, it would be Vivienne Westwood rocking horse shoes. That is our Birkin, except vivienne doesn't have us beg for it lol
