Welcome to Stardew Valley. In this series I will be pursuing perfection, trying to accomplish it in as interesting a way as I can. I will try to explain as many mechanics, and tricks as I can along the way, but this game is massive!

Egg, as much as I like your pokemon stuff I am glad you are putting your eggs in other baskets. I have enjoyed this video and though I seen other playthroughs of the pre update game I find each and every person who plays it has a unique experience and that goes for the ones watching it as well. This was so fun to watch, I always watched Stardew streams to wind down and relax and I love your commentary and explanations. Sounds like you are feeling a lot more chipper while playing as well.

So, fun trick with the Salmon Berries if you really want to min-max them. The berry bushes will all be stocked on the first day of berry season but on the next two, only about half of the bushes will grow new berries since the game remembers that they were harvested the previous day. However, that isn't stored in the save file but instead in the flash memory so by exiting the game and then relaunching it every berry bush will have berries like it's the first day of the berry season. You can do this for Blackberries too.

I did not know that! I played straight through both sets of berries, but I'll keep this in mind for the future. Those berries are pretty nifty early on :) Thanks!

Just finished my first spring! Thanks for emphasising that this game is to be played how the player wants to. when I was setting up Summer, I had two clear paths: Plant 90 blueberries, and stall out my mining progress, or plant 60 and upgrade to a steel pickaxe. I did what I wanted to and now, coming into the 2nd week of summer, thanks to a fairy visit, i should be sitting on a gold pickaxe. Ordinarily, in say, harvest moon, i would be sticking straight to the "highest optimized strategy" also, i suck at foraging so i'm glad i used the map you suggested - the eggs from the 2 chickens are CRUCIAL to mining health!

Right on!!! Sounds like you've been kicking goals in the first season :) in Stardew I feel the "optimized" strat only eggsists within your goals. Be sure to check your recipes! If you can craft a Mayonnaise Maker you can make those eggs even more valuable! Just don't think about chugging mayo in the mines to survive too much

@@Eggsceptional I have been...well..FAR behind your progress. As of now I'm mid first winter. Greenhouse of cranberries, quality sprinklers, deluxe coop of birds and a rabbit, an empty big barn lol, and still no iridium axe....but I found a prismatic shard less than 5 minutes after buying the lava katana for 25k...OOF!I will craft that mayo maker immediately. And explore my crafting menu deeper...nobody told me about the ability to craft forges....

@@DoctorKamino Weeeeell.. I think Clint did? I probably missed it.. there's been a lot to cover ;) That's pretty darn great for your first farm! You're way ahead of where I was on my first. That's a painful hit to take, buying the katana and immediately getting access to a faaar superior sword. That RNG will get ya in every game!

Stardew Valley is one of those games that I totally see why so many people love, and I've enjoyed it myself, but it's not something I'm the most fond of playing through personally. I DO, however, like watching other people play through it. It's not Pokemon, and that's fine. So long as it's a game I'm interested in or topic or whatever, I'll happily watch your eggventures.

I'm so glad you're doing a Stardew run! I only recently started the Stardew brainrot, and I'm enjoying it so much! Have fun with your adventures! Edit: for more money shenanigans, I've been very much enjoying the new Fish Smoker (comes with the Riverlands farm)! It may take time and coal, but it doubles your sell price for fish and makes crab pot things edible!

Hello, Egg! Can I ask you what kind of mic you use? Or if it's nothing special, what you do to reduce static/echo from coming through on your mic?

I use a Blue Yeti USB microphone. I bought it on sale, and it's fantastic :) Concerning audio quality, I just make sure that the area around me has as few big flat surfaces as possible (tapestries, blankets everywhere), and I can't record while the furnace is running :P Aside from that I run my audio through Audacity (free software) pretty much just using a Compressor. I'd recommend looking up videos on audio quality, and just play with it! Trial and error is how I've managed.

What a dilemma I have, do I use this Eggsceptional video as background while grinding out SC2, watch it while doing mindless grinding in my FFX Lulu only run, or fall asleep to perhaps the coziest game I've ever played as played by an egg... Unless it's changed you don't need to worry about closing your fences for your chickens - AFAIK foxes don't exist (1.5 at least?)

Ahhh it was just a matter of time before I got something wrong. Apparently, it's not that long. I've kind of noticed the foxes don't trouble you much these days after leaving my coop door open maaaaany times

@@Eggsceptional It's if you close the coop door while they are still outside and lock them out. The game assumes they go in if possible, but if you lock them out they have a 50% chance to get eaten IIRC. So after 5pm go inside the coop (which teleports them in for the end of the day) and then come out and close the door. 1.6 added a bit of bonus happiness if you close the door for them at the end of the day (not that I bother, I'm usually rushing to bed at 1:30am).

Did you ever play "harvest moon" back in the 1990s"? SNES specifically. I was previously told to play this game because I have an undying love for that horribly buggy and broken 16 bit game. (If you haven't played it yet, do so!)

@@DoctorKamino Sure did! Not to the eggstent that I have Stardew, but I did enjoy the old SNES Harvest Moon. It's part of the reason why I was so attracted to Stardew in the first place!

I did not, but I looked up the cow funeral on youtube and it is SUPER CREEPY.....one thing that scares me about stardew is theres too much crap going on. Like, If I am to succeed at playing it, I am going to have to limit how many ventures I have. I Say this because in n64 harvest moon, there were too many choices for income, I became over whelmed, and quit. I am very afraid of being overwhelmed....

@@DoctorKamino If I ever did I don't remember it. I can definitely appreciate how insanely vast Stardew appears because honestly, it is. The nice thing is that there's no pressure to do anything in a timely way. All the events repeat year to year, and there aren't any time sensitive goals in the game. Only the goals you create yourself. In my first playthrough I didn't even touch a fishing rod until winter of year 1. Now it's how I start every run!
