Because it’s dumb. You don’t know who or what is in the car. You try not to be in the line of fire of the officers there first. At anytime someone can jump out with a weapon and if the other officers haven’t cleared the area, they are in the line of fire. You never want to be down range. And you leave the cover of your car to go run and hope to find other cover? No you get and stay in a position of advantage. There is also case law that says you have to leave them somewhat of an out.

Yes they had that car completely contained in that alley, it only needed one police vehicle in front and one behind and the pursuit is finished. But why do that when you can let the suspect keep driving recklessly and put innumerable innocent people at risk of being killed? Any police chase in Los Angeles County that endangers the public needs to have at least a 10 year minimum sentence. No parole, no probation, no time off for good behavior. They must serve the full 10 years plus any other charges brought as a result of the chase and crimes committed prior. District attorneys who fail to enforce the law for crimes that results in death or injury to the public should be tried and if convicted carry a life term or the death penalty.

I just watched a ton of video of the Arkansa state troopers dashcams...i tell you all : when they light you up?, just stop.....they will chase you no matter what speeds, roads, upcoming trafic or within trafic. 2 lanes, 4 lanes, interstate , towns...rain, snow....they will PIT you at full speeds....the fastest speed was 115...yes, 115.....and also do not back down on full speed pursuits in towns....almost all pursuits ending in a high speed PIT sending cars flying everywhere.....so, just stop 🙂
