120mph.. smdh.. a basic Golf Diesel does much more than that nowadays..
@DigitalBathInAZ2 жыл бұрын
@@rolux4853 I don't follow the point you're making. Manufacturers put governors on their cars for tire limitations, not the car's limitations and 120 does not equal 155, so I don't know what you mean.
@rolux48532 жыл бұрын
@@DigitalBathInAZ I work for a German car manufacturer as an engineer and let me tell you the 250kmh limit has nothing to do with tire limitations. Those cars all get delivered with mandatory Y tires which can withstand 300kmh so no problem there. The 250kmh limit is a gentleman’s agreement between the German car manufacturers to make sure the government does not outlaw cars above a certain speed. So only special high speed sport models are allowed to go over the 250kmh limit. The basic production cars will always be limited at 250kmh. If you want you can get the car unlocked with aftermarket software to make it go faster, but then you’ll loose the warranty for your car. If it’s already older then that’s no problem. I just made fun of the TV moderator for thinking 120mph(about 200kmh) is fast. For a German like me it’s pretty slow and every housewives Diesel Golf can go much faster than that nowadays. It was absolutely no criticism towards you, your initial statement was completely right! Sorry if you felt offended by it, that wasn’t my intention.
@DigitalBathInAZ2 жыл бұрын
@@rolux4853 Not offended at all! Thanks for the info. We Yanks might have initially been offered that as a reason early on when BMW (in this example) started doing that. Had I dug in deeper, I would have found the explanation you offered. Oddly though, there is no "the government" when it comes to a car made in Germany exported to the US, so what matters in one place may not in the other, but ... whatever. It's silly and easily defeatable. I have always unlocked said governor with the 2 BMWs I've owned, but mostly out of principle, not usage. Sadly, 140 mph is still the fastest I've gone in a car on a public road - I was a professional driver for years and getting caught would have been a career-ender. Take care! Thanks for the reply.

And it's a thousand times more dangerous to the public if you miss, hell, even if you hit you'll send shrapnel flying across a highway. I agree with the sentiment of pacifying the problem directly, and quickly, but sometimes, like in this situation, there's no way to do that without possibly risking the lives of nearby civilians. Ya know why they haven't stopped him yet? The cops are trying to form a drum circle so they can kindly greet him. The patrol cars have taken the shotguns out of the dash racks and installed guitars now. Hoo-hah! California! I knew ya when!

I understand the fact that if you're activity chasing the possibility of the driver becoming more reckless is higher, however i wouldn't exactly say it's "safer" for the public.... it's not as if these people are skilled wheel men.. and most of what I've seen, neither are the cops that chase them...i could've ended this several times already and im only 1:50 into it 🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️.. no regard for anyone else but themselves. Put me out there with a vehicle of my choice. Match their lack of skills against someone experienced in such driving.... now your down to 1 vehicle in pursuit, and not 20 different cops from 20 different towns.

I seen Texas police use a grappler bumper stop not sure if i spelled that right. It was so cool they shoot it out and it attaches to bumper then it pulls the vehicle to a complete stop. Wouldn't work on this cat since bumper hanging off! Lol! Yall check it out!

Even as an old woman those are the ones I like to drag out of the car and just beat the crap out of, if I were an officer. Think of all the people he came so close to hurting or killing.

Wtf. My BMW goes into "limp home" mode if I so much as run over an amoeba. Barely goes over 20mph. But this guy? No rear end, broken track rods, smashed front....120mph.

Is this our new race track. Or is this our new entertainment.

This reporters talk is more entertaining than the chase itself, right now
