It’s not an 11th commandment… This is a law that was established with the “Old”: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and all thy soul, and all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. The only difference with the New Testament, is that Jesus emphasizes the concept of love and forgiveness; Whereas the Old focuses on the judgment of the law, of which forgiveness was limited to animal sacrifice every year. Though the law expresses the principle of love and compassion for your neighbor, it too was limited.

Jesus of Nazareth is played brilliantly by Robert Powell,a Salford actor made good, and it's THE definitive version of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Another Salford actor, Chris Eccleston, starred in The Second Coming, a TV series which really made an impact on me and is worth watching. Rather than being critical of this film, it's food for thought in these times if we would recognize Our Lord's second coming if we knew how.

It's not reallly a new commandment but a summary of all the commandments. Matthew 22:37-39 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
