Incidentally, the reason Earthquake comes earlier in the game than Dig is because in D/P, the cave it's in was locked off by a Strength boulder, but it was opened up in Platinum to give earlier access to Gible. Maybe they thought the fact its location was obscured made it secret enough that they don't assume every player finds it, so Dig is like the "backup" for casual players.

Imo psuedolegends /should/ be available early. If you wanna struggle with a gabite or a dratini on your team for 10,15 levels after your starter and early route mons would be fully evolved, you should be rewarded!

I think for the random spinners, like the hiker at 13:08, running past them will make them look in your direction, that’s how it works in Emerald at least. But if you walk or ride your bike past them, they won’t pay you any mind.

This is an especially jarring change considering Scott has explicitly said in the past that the viewer base is quite consistent, so the thumbnail shouldn't matter. I guess this could be interpreted as "may as well test out the clickbait thumbnails if the people who regularly watch will click anyway", so this could be a way to try attracting new viewers? It's understandable even if the change makes me not want to watch because of the anti-clickbait knee jerk reaction

This is definitely my favourite cat pokemon line. There's something about the essence of cats that their designs just captures. Persian's meow-gnificent front sprite from red and blue gets an honourable mention, though.

Kept it around for pickup ability. Caught another evolved em both in victory road. Pickup/Payday + Amulet Coin x every battle & encounter = Profit? Speaking of cats I was very disappointed with littens final evolution incineroar ..On a seriously, I can't believe they made its 1st two members of the Litten line quadrupedal then make it bipedal, give it a fighting type look and a wrestling-inspired signature move and make it Dark, it's like GameFreak was trolling.

I trained 2 of em on my diamond version .. it’s a very rare ability unfortunately it’s the only pkmn with it. Sadly it basically functions like a helping hand when the sun is up if i can recall correctly..itself an it’s partner get Both Attack & Sp.Defense gets boosted

I actually really enjoyed using Purugly throughout the double battles in Pokémon Battle Revolution. Purugly is one of the few Pokémon that can make use of Own Tempo + Swagger shenanigans in doubles.

Hello Scott, Purugly can learn both Swagger and Psych Up. Pointing this out as this is a 'Swords Dance at home' for the modicum investment of two move slots and two turns for +2 attack. This could be useful for trainers like Cynthia, Lucian, Bertha, whose leads are not very threatening, mixed attackers or special attackers, allowing you to swagger them and copying the stat change with psych up. For that first double battle at Lake Verity, it is possible to fight the trainers one at a time in BDSP if you walk up to the trainer on the right and move diagonally and slowly toward the trainer. The best way to do this is to walk up against the trees. I'm not sure if this is possible in Platinum but, if it is, it might help.

I think that one extra fault could be the absolute blunder of using Water Pulse too soon. Now you have a core memory that may or may not hurt you later.

Purugly honestly did way better than I expected. Probably because I remember how absolutely useless the thing was in Pearl (why in Arceus' name was it locked behind the fifth gym badge? Stunky only needed two and it's noticeably better!). But I guess the fast growth rate means a lot in this sort of challenge. Skuntank is going to be really good, though. As a note - in spite of its noticeably lower Special Attack, Flamethrower will be consistently useful during the challenge, and I would seriously advise grabbing Dark Pulse in Victory Road to hold as an out to Bertha.

I love this series and it makes me excited for when Scott will eventually do single stage runs in this game. That said, I am curious how long that will be. Will all gen 1-4 evolutionary lines get playthroughs before the switch? Or maybe just the Platinum Sinnoh Pokedex. I wonder if in these challenges of Gen 4+ it would make sense to give fast physical mons a - speed + sp atk nature and give them a few secial attack moves, to deal with intimidate. So that even when their attack gets lowered they still have passable damage somewhere. Specifically for games where Gyrados and Staraptor line are as prevalent as Platinum

Funny fact, Bronzor doesn't just have Levitate. It has Levitate OR Heatproof. What's Bronzor/zong's only weaknesses? Fire and Ground. As a result, Bronzor/zong always loses one of its two weaknesses with its ability.

You can't run or bike past Spinner trainers like that Hiker as they'll immediately turn to catch you. You have to walk past them to get by undetected. Think of it like sneaking!

9:30 austere doesn't quite work the way you want it to there, I'd mark it as awkward phrasing that's slightly off from accepted usage (happens a lot when learning new words) and you'd probably want to phrase it differently to use another word in the future. "I'm not being so strict that I'm avoiding all training" or "I'm being more frugal with my training time, but not avoiding it entirely." as a couple examples. I support your drive for more accurate language but it's still important that you're familiar enough to be confident and sound natural with your usage.

I have to imagine that this line is one of the least used ever for normal playthroughs. Only in one game of it's og gen, in the worst paired games in the series, only found in a patch of grass most people likely skipped the first time around, gotten before a steel type trainer, your rival having more fighting moves and candice having a medicham, and all in all in the worst region to be a normal type in due to the abundance of fighting and steel types against your opponents and with competition with staraptor. And then it's only available on randomly available mirage spots in oras (which are post groudon/kyogre conflict) and then again only in sp and legends. So unfair when stunky both is available so early on in diamond in comparison and it has a broken type. combination
