I’ll never forget the first time I heard A Singularity. The album had just come out and I had just found out my #1 dog had cancer. He was my whole word and I knew I was going to lose him. I was excited to throw on some headphones and take a mental vacation. This song hit so hard. I just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed as it was playing. I’ve never had a song hit me so hard but this was an emotional release that I needed. I heard the song live during the first leg of the Puscifer tour and it was so therapeutic to not only hear it live but to sing every word at the top of my lungs.

My mother passed away around the time Existential Reckoning came out. Maynard's written songs about the death of loved ones before, but this one hits on the pure expression of grief in a way that connects with me very deeply. I still occasionally get emotional listening to it. I love this rework by Carina, and I love the clips of MiHo. Now that I know what to look for, I'll go back and try to pick up on her cameos in earlier albums.

I cried HARD the very first time I heard the original. Didn't even have much on my mind, but it just hit me like a stack of bricks. I put off watching this new version, knowing the meaning behind it and not wanting to get too emotional. Then yesterday my ex called me hysterical, her dog of almost ten years and who I've known since the beginning and still dog sat a few times a month, went into cardiac arrest and died in her arms. Existential Reckoning was released the same weekend my wife of 15 years and mother of my 7yo and 2yo decided walk out on us... we had been together since we were 18...many great times, great memories, amazing concerts/festivals... this record could not have hit closer to home... unreal soundtrack to that time. Maynard James Keenan has been my one and only favorite singer since I discovered Tool as a kid. The early 90s shaped my entire life. I’ve been on this ride with this majestic voice in my head the whole time. And to see this whilst I’ve already lost one pet, about to lose another (she’s 17 going on 18), and then soon will lose both my dogs (both are 9 and have illnesses)… these are my children. I have no human kids and will never have them. So these kiddos really are my babies. And to know this man I have loved and has been the voice behind the soundtrack of my life loved his dog this much… it makes me feel like I’m not crazy after all and I chose to follow the right man. I hope when I die, it will be with his voice playing me to sleep. Absolutely adore this man.

we found out our cat has cancer - her time is limited and one thing she loves is to watch video's - the other A Singularity with the seahorses is her favorite and she loves the music which she recognized when i played this version - we will make her days as full and rich as possible - no pain, only love ~ Empty Places ~ in every room, at every window the sun warms a pillow imprinted with her roundness silken hair upon satin, once there to catch the sun chasing butterflies in running dreams paws covering her eyes, sleeping in the ever warm can't i just hold you for a moment? scratch your ears in that special way let me rub that belly for hours i'd do all that & more if you'd only stay what i fear most, is the weight of her here now but soon to be gone her circle of purr that fills my lap or her gentle chin laid upon a blanketed limb this is where her ghost will haunt those empty places....and the emptiest of all....

Bless you MiHo and God Speed. That’s so sad and heartbreaking and I am sorry for your loss you have me best wishes. I have a little dog who is older and you inspired me to write a song for him before it’s his time. I love him with all my heart and I have to do something before he travels on to commemorate him. He has been the constant blessing in my life that has kept me together and I will miss him in the end. I literally cry sometimes just looking at my little buddy because I love him so much and don’t want him to leave me but I know it’s unavoidable and i want it to be a pleasant celebration not a somber day of morning. I will always remember my Buddy Rudy and I even have tears in my eyes as I write this I love him so much that’s why I have to remember not to take our time we have left for granted and do my best to give him the best last years of his life and to make the best memories I can because they will mean a lot in the end. Thank you Maynard James Keenan you have helped me find a way to make a blessing out of my inevitable loss and to focus on something more positive then his passing. You’ll never know what this means to me and I hope you know you have been with me in your music since I was a young man and you where a constant inspiration and I even named my cat I had years ago after you Maynard the cat.
