Thanks Johannes. Rather than updating the List widget with a setState() is there any way you can update an AnimatedList without using setState? So that the List's update is not so jarring to the user?

For the icon you might change the app icon in general which you can do f.e. with the plugin flutter_launcher_icons. I think it will then be the same icon for the notification also. To your other point - i would guess just put in all callback functions onMessage, onLaunch, etc. A Navigator.push() with your route you want like to have open.
