This is a wonderful video! I'm glad that someone appreciates Birthright (and unpopular opinion, I think it's a better entry point into the series than its predecessor). I'm also glad that someone's focusing on stat benchmarks rather than stat caps. People focus so much on capping stats and those funny big numbers. But really, all that matters is that you reach enough of a stat, even through both permanent and temporary stat boosters, to do your job well. I especially say this since I LOVE using Luthier in both Gaiden and Shadows of Valentia, who people often bench in favor of Delthea.

Not much to say here, you randomly popped up on my YT homepage and I’m so glad you did. After becoming addicted to Zoran’s Conquest videos, I’m always craving more Fates content, especially for the (admittedly flawed, but still enjoyable) other routes.

I love this so much. I was always frustrated that Oni Chieftain, on paper, looked like such a good magic class in Birthright, but often felt the units who had access to it had glaring flaws that limited their ability to fully utilize it. Nice to see someone prove that misconception wrong. :) Do you think Oboro is the best mom for this? - if so, why?

I like Oboro because she passes down a good amount of bulk while being a practical partner for Hayato since her amazing base class set means she doesn't have to rely on getting a class passed down to her by her husband. Bulk is really nice in Birthright's late game since you're going to want your juggernauts to take on upwards of 6 enemies per Enemy Phase, and with Oboro as a mother you can kinda just turn your brain off and send Rhajat in without doing all the math because she'll probably survive. The Seal Defense/Seal Resistance combo also really helps with kill feeding. The other recommended mother is Felicia, who can pass down early skills like Tomefaire, Quixotic, Inspiration, or Sol, though Rhajat takes a hit in the bulk department. I also know Zoran's a fan of pairing Hayato with Orochi for the big magic stat, and pairing him with Sakura gives her Basara, which she really wants. I still think having Oboro as the mother is the best option, since it gives Rhajat the sustain that lets her do her job with minimal support and still lets you tune damage to control whether you're one rounding or setting up kills.

I generally don't think much of Oboro because I usually only play routes with her on it either super casually, or in the context of PvP files (which, sadly, she's just not well suited for with her class selection), but this was all very informative! :) I need to do a more serious BR run some time.

This is incredible!... I had never felt much interest in Birthright Lunatic before now but I had to try this... in my case I added seal speed from Oboro to Rhajat and, also while it may be annoying to level a normal Hayato, if you marry him to Oboro and make him a Basara he gets seal defense too! (for some reason... I don't know how that works...) and he still turned up alright, less resist than Rhajat but a bit more defense!... Thanks for the Strat! I never even considered Rhajat before now, she is a must for defense!

He gets it because now that he has access to spear fighter which also promotes to Basara the game considers the skills "unlocked." In a similar way, if you pair Effie or Bennie with a Cavalier unit then go into great knight, they will get the Cav classes unpromoted skills which might be a good thing as it allows you to go down a normal class route without having to use any sort of Seals. Works for Cavs who are paired with them as well if going into Great Knight. This also works for Midori in general because Apothecary gets access to Mechanist and her secondary class is Ninja from Kaze, so she will get the base Ninja skills (though they're pretty niche). Another few examples: -Selena paired with Niles if she goes into Bowknight will get locktouch and mov+1 -Subaki paired with Mozu if he goes into Kinshi Knight will get Skill+4 and Quick Draw (pretty strong paired with Darting Blow) due to gen 1 units not getting access to Villager thus getting Archer instead -Sakura paired with Hayato if she goes into Onmyoji gets mag+2 and future sight -Arthur/Charlotte paired Selena/Laslow will get the Merc skills if they going into Hero and vice versa Do note that these all work both ways, so Mozu will get Pegasus skills, Niles Merc skills, Hayato Monk skills, etc. So yeah don't be too afraid to pair two units just because their classes have 1 overlap of a promoted class, it might make them pretty good to get those bonus skills without having to do extra seal investment. Unfortunately some units don't get this privilege, like Swordmasters, Wyverns, Dark Mages and Troubadours, so they can't abuse it for easy free skills.

@@chadachi3970 ohh... that is so cool!...for support and or story reasons I had never experimented much before, this video inspired me to try the Oni Hayato with Azama's Renewal (all for Rhajat!) and since I did I realized that the Skill unlocking also works for friendships, I tried it with a Jakob: married to Azura to get Kinshi and then befriend Takumi, as far as I recall from two weeks ago Jakob also got quick draw... I really need to keep this in mind since the seals are limited for most of the game, (I once married Hayato to Sakura... but didn't get this, so I turned her into a priestess, because I figured she would be an Onmyoji without those skills) Thanks for Answering I had given up hope to be answered!

@@patricioallamosa1961 You're welcome, it is a pretty complicated thing that isn't really explained in the game at all and is only really discovered by chance or constant study of the game. Fates while personally not really having a great story across all 3 routes, probably has the most depth in it's class system and the weird shenanigans you can pull off. I would really only take this part of the system into account if you're looking to make mid game fairly easy to work around. One other thing I didn't mention that is also very similar. If you use the offspring seal to promote a character to at least lvl 2, I forget which chapter they have to be recruited by to accomplish this, you can immediately learn skills from a class that has two base classes. The biggest most clear example of this is Midori where if you use the offspring seal to make her into a mechanist she will immediately unlock both locktouch and poison strike. This works with pretty much any of the children of the pairings I mentioned before as well, so a Benny+Peri/Ignatius promoted into Great Knight will get Elbow Room and Shelter, or a Selena+Niles/Nina promoted into Bow Knight will get Strong Riposte and Good Fortune. So there are some pretty funny stuff you can do with this.

@@chadachi3970 ah, gotcha, that is why Rhajat gets seal defense as a Basara (with Oboro as Hayato's pair) one would think that the game would explain at least in the archive room thing or something, because this class system (and some of the chapters) are the good parts of this game... also, since we are talking about this: the offspring seal gives the kid a lot of levels, do they get the skills instantly even of the double classes? like if Selena+Niles Nina gets a seal that will get her to level 5, will she get Riposte and Fortune before rally skill? or is that after leveling up herself? I usually just planned a master seal, that's why I am curious...

@@patricioallamosa1961 She will gain all skills as long as the level requirement is met when using the offspring seal, so yes if she is level 5 after using it she will also gain Rally skill. I have more recently done this with Shigure going into Kinshi and he was lvl 6 after use, so he instantly got Air Superiority without any extra investment.

Really enjoyed seeing clever class builds on birthright units. I did something similar with Orichi in my last playthrough, making her a chieftain via Rinkah friendship and giving her a speedy pair up partner with Falconknight saizo. The Sakura build was nice, I always struggled finding a build for her cause of her very limited friendship sets. What level did you promote her at?

As long as you don't care about turn counts, Birthright lets you feed pretty much any unit you want to raise in the Leo chapter (lots of faceless you can make a wall of units you can turtle behind and chip at 2 range for support points), the Rainbow Sage chapter (where there are promoted enemies with 0 defense on the left side and 0 resistance on the right), and Fort Dragonfall (even more faceless). Even after keeping Sakura undeployed for a good portion of the midgame after getting her to S support Corrin, I reclassed her into Wyvern at level 10 for Rainbow Sage and fed her to a level 20 promotion on the left side of the map. You can probably get away with promoting at 10 if you just want early rally utility (you can probably get her to Rally Def by the end of Fort Dragonfall if you go that route). You'll have to limit the number of enemies she's in range of (her 55% HP growth and 50% Def growth in Wyvern can make a noticeable difference in her bulk if she's given 10 extra levels), but you'll still get a very useful unit, even if you won't be getting as much out of Quiet Strength when she's further from the front lines.

@@badatlife thanks for the insight! I always use the vs Leo chapter to grind weapon ranks for my newly promoted units. Its unfortunate that Sakura can't just heart seal into her second class and immediately become more useful like Wyvern Elise imo. For a rally bot, I used Jakob!Shigure passing down rally resistance from his father and reclassing him to wyvern lord (he gets this from Jakob) after picking up rally speed.

@@sully_betic I've found that Sakura gets a comparable boost to Elise when she's reclassed to Sky Knight. She does great with the Bolt Naginata, and her strength and bulk scale better to the late game than Elise's. Darting Blow and being able to stack Rallies Luck, Magic, and Speed are also nice bonuses. Reclassing Sakura also makes room for either Azama or Felicia/Jakob to take over the healing duties.

Wow, this is really surprising! ... Is what I would say, but I always found Oni Chieftain + Spirit Horse to be one of the most cheesy combos in the game. Oni Felicia is quite disgusting in Conquest as well

Personally I don't like Orochi as her mom because it kinda nukes her speed growth to being abysmal, but in BR there really aren't a ton of options as Felicia is an okay at best mom and Sakura is a much better all around option for her offensive stats. Rhajat is very clearly one of those child units made for Rev pairings because Nyx boosts all of her good stats while also encompassing all of her bad ones. It also gives her the black hair like Tharja lol I usually pair Orochi with Saizo for magic ninja since Asuji actually has a good magic growth and Ninja only has 5% more strength growth than magic.
