Since Harman Phoenix has strong grain and high contrast, I felt that pushing would work well. Given the clear base and lack of orange mask, I just HAD to try E-6 processing, too.

The grain on the E6 Cross-processing is incredibly interesting, please show us how it looks with a warming filter!

As soon as I saw the negative I thought about cross processing it, great job man! Now I will definitely do it, it looks waaaay better in E6. They might have just accidentally given us a beautiful tungsten-balanced slide, and I'm soooo happy about it :)

I watched the grainy days video on this film and he visited Harman labs and the chemists there said the film is technically a 123.5 iso film. So maybe a combination of shooting this film at 125 or 100 with a warming filter will give better results in terms of density and color accuracy when cross processing in E6. Very cool.

Obviously I didn't have that information before release! It makes sense given how much cleaner it is when shot at 100 (+0 dev) and ~560 (+2 dev). I'll treat 125 as the box speed going forwards. I did shoot as low as 50 and those seemed okay, but the warming filter alone wasn't enough which is why I had to go and order an 85B. I'll share results when I have them!

An ISO of 125 means that pushing 2 stops is 500 ISO.

Wow, I’m so glad I came across your video and to see someone actually take this new stock serious. All the other content on it has been a rehash of the same ideas. Really cool to see this!

Only a couple days into having this new film stock and we’re already getting these awesome experiments. I know a lot of people are somewhat disappointed by the stock performance of this film (not to downplay the people who love it/those who know ilford’s commitment to improvement) but stuff like this videos is what has me the most excited for this new film stock. I love that we have a new toy to play and experiment with. Great video and keep up the awesome work!

Pushing it 2 stop AND cross-processing E-6 would be interesting to see. I mean if E-6 gives less grain and more resolution than C41, i wonder if it could then also be pushed as E-6 without getting so noisy.

I hope you keep experimenting. We do appreciate "recipes" for success. These initial results are great, and even Ilford doesn't fully know what the Phoenix emulsion is supposed to do just yet, so it's all good. After all, they market it as a 200 to not scare people away by saying it really is closer to 100 (which it is.)

Really, really liked the cross-processing results. That's what I'll try when I get some of this film. Perhaps pulling 1 stop, then cross-processing? Or using at box speed? Thanks for a great video of a new, exciting film stock!

Definitely don't pull! Next, I want to try a mix of overexposure (to get better highlights and mids) and pushing (to get better contrast) in addition to an 85B filter I've just ordered.

Ok so this has convinced me alone to try this film. Bought a roll from Gulabi in Glasgow and it seems The Darkroom down in Cheltenham will Cross Process. Might need to get a warming filter and try it out on my Canon EOS 3! Subbed and liked for this content

If you're happy to buy a filter, I've found an 85B gets better results, and do overexpose it a bit! Definitely don't rate it at 200.
@danieldevine
@danieldevine 7 ай бұрын
So with TTL metering that'll compensate automatically for the warming filter, but you suggest was it rating it at 100 ? or 50? @@Shaka1277 - Was looking to get the same reduced grain and enhanced resolution from the examples you showed with the text - so probably be using outside in daylight.
@Shaka1277

50 or even 25. I've only coarsely dialled it in and need to do a few more test strips to answer all the questions I have before making a follow up video!

@@Shaka1277 ohhh ok! I'll be sure to give it plenty light then haha! Defo no low light shots then! If they make a higher ISO version with a similar make up later that works well for cross processing that'd be sick! Considering there was higher ISO slide film in the past it's defo do-able! (well, maybe because of laws on specific chemicals or availability/cost - rules have changed a lot in the last 20+ years1)

Hey, I wanted to ask about metering on the Pentax 67. If I shoot wide open on the 105mm f2.4, should I set my metering app (lghtr) to f 2.4 or f1.2?
@rorycowieson5924
@rorycowieson5924 7 ай бұрын
F2.4. I think you’re getting confused because it has the depth of field equivalent of f1.2 but that has nothing to do with light entering the lens. I also own and shoot a Pentax 67 as my main camera.

Very helpful. How did you over process it please? How many seconds longer? Box speed of 3:15 I think. Thanks

Do we think this would get good results exposed at 125 (close to what they said is the native speed) with a 85B x-processed? As that’s what I am currently doing.. 😂
@Shaka1277
@Shaka1277 8 ай бұрын
125 would be dark based on the one shot I took at 50, but my 85B won't arrive for a little bit so I can't be sure how much it would fix the colours - let me know!
