I stumbled across your account last fall (via ‘Playing With Sticks’) and have been watching ever since. Really enjoy your videos, thanks! A month or so ago you included a photo of your dad and I saw the word Labrador and thought “what the heck??”. I live on the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador! I’m assuming your trip this summer will take you to St. Anthony and the Grenfell Mission so you will have to travel up the west coast of the island. My husband and I have spent a lot of time exploring our island in our minivan camper, the west coast is so beautiful. Gros Morne National Park is fantastic (Shallow Bay is my favourite beach on the island), and you must stop in to the National Park site at Port Aux Choix. And if you love textiles and are up for a couple hours slightly off route you should try to get to Conche and see the French Shore Tapestry. There’s tons more, these are just a few notables. You guys are an inspiration, we’re a few years younger and still ok in our minivan, but know someday we will want to be able to stand up inside :). We’re heading to the mainland this summer to visit my mother in law who we have been unable to visit in person for some time. No videos, but we’re on Instagram @nladventurevan Thanks!!!

Hi Karen. So wonderful to hear from you and I will definitely make note of your suggestions. St. Anthony is one of the stops my dad made en route to Spotted Island. I also want to visit the Louie A Hall B&B because Miss Hall was friends with my grandparents and sponsored my dad. Years ago I sat down with my dad to go over the photos he took of his adventure. On the back of the picture of his "students" he had written their names and I was able to find the daughter of one of them. Her name is Mary Jane (Holwell) Norman. I was able to send her copies of dad's pictures and she shared with other descendants. I'm also hoping to visit the Grenfell House Museum. I wish we could actually get to Spotted Island but it looks like that would be pretty difficult. Please email me if you have any other suggestions. energymaven@gmail.com
