I worked at the Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake from September 1995 to May 2002...I spent a lot of my spare time exploring Panamint Valley and Death Valley. I encountered former members of "The Family" in Trona during my early forays into that wilderness. Years later I returned to that region after spending about 10 years on the east coast-- I bought a plane and it was hangered at Trona airport, which really enabled me to see all the Panamint Valley (& Death Valley) attractions from the air. Years ago, I retired and now live near an Arizona ghost town--your video really brought back those memories I have of that area.

Awww fun! I grew up with the Manley book in our house and I read “Helter Skelter” at least twice, but will have to look for that book. Your story telling in this one - awesome

@@FromShetoMe no. But you get 25x the comments I do. Possibly because I mentioned the title of the Vincent Bugliosi book?

Tanks for the additional detail on last week’s video. I read Helter Skelter on the Manson murders the summer of 1976 when I was working at the Grand Canyon. Really creeped me out then and when I think about it now. Thanks for the Memories. Excellent waterfall hike BTW! Oh, and your binocular template cracks me up. How cinematic!

I am a follower of Travel Small Live Big, that was nice she reached out to you and told you about her family history. Our family tree has the legendary Joe Lefors who went after Butch and Sundance. Have you done any of the trails famous for the Wild Bunch? Have you any plans to do some Wyoming hiking? I know you are going to head to the East this year so I am excited to see your future travels. I enjoyed today's Panamint Canyon, you two are real troopers on these journeys. Take care

So neat to have historic figures in the family. Makes history a lot more interesting. East bound we won’t be going through Wyoming but potentially on the return trip.

Great video. I commented a week or so ago about my concern of ebikes eventually being regulated. An update, I live 20 miles from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and my bike shop is in Gettysburg. I was there this week having my bike tuned and the dealer said ebikes are being abused so much on the Gettysburg battlefield that there is a petition going around to have them banned from the Gettysburg National Battlefield. Keep up the good work.

We teardrop and northern BC, Yukon and Northwest Territories are our chosen places. Plenty of rugged roads. Our current tow vehicle offers 2wd, all wheel drive and 4wd. I'm going to say it sits in 2wd most of the time, regardless of season or terrain. A few times a year I'll switch into all wheel drive and the only time it sees 4wd is when I purposely seek out a gravel pit and use 4wd just to exercise and lube all those bits. we've been up into the far north, Arctic Circle, to the Arctic Ocean, up poorly maintained private mine access roads, down decommissioned logging roads...2wd works just fine.

Good testimonial! The one thing we like about 4WD or AWD is it puts you into the “Club.” That’s the group that doesn’t have to put on chains when we visit our son in the mountains.

Looking forward to meeting up this winter and you can fill me in on the Manson story! Have been getting some reservations in critical stops, Sedona, Vegas, but dry camping or find a park when need to drain and fill tanks….You guys are worrying me with all of your falls! Please be careful. No dogs allowed on that hike unfortunately. Travel safe!
