Did you change the ECU as well? Its pain in the …. , cause its located under the front cover.

The old engine offers Rotax tons of useful data after 1200 hour real life usage.

I have the 915 in my Rans S21. All of my flying with it has been in MN this winter where it’s was super cold. -20 though 20F. I found I could climb at full throttle with the prop in climb up until about 12,000-15,000’ in those cold temps before having to throttle back as the manifold and EGT’s were creeping up to their limits. I just flew from sea level on a 50 degree day that was very humid and I had to throttle back at 4’000’. interesting toward the end of our trip we were taking off from 4,000-8,600 msl airports with low humidity and similar temps and the manifold and EGT’s stayed much cooler for longer. Oil and coolant were totally normal. What are you experiences with the manifold and EGT with humid and warmer temps? I was disappointed and my climb rates with reduced power suffered greatly.

What about all the above surface rivets. A lot of drag

Any word from Rotax regarding getting the 915is TBO up to 2,000 hrs? Thanks for all the content! Dreaming of building a TSI someway!! 😍

No word yet, but hoping to hear back soon!

@@SlingPilotAcademy Thanks for the reply! So is your engine the guinea pig then? If your engine looks perfectly healthy are you thinking Rotax will be using that are their green light to increase the TBO?

@@mcorrive12 We’re hoping so, that’s the idea

So it is currently 1200 TBR, not TBO?

We are getting a Rans S21 with a Rotax 915 and a constant speed prop. 1. what is the break-in process and interval for the engine 2. what kind of fuel burn do you experience?
@SlingPilotAcademy2 жыл бұрын
Hi - the engines are actually broken in at the factory so nothing special required. We do several hours of 'test' on each new engine just to check the installation and operation

@@SlingPilotAcademy Thanks. I thought I remembered that about Rotax (we once owned a Flight Design with a 912iS.)

Really looking forward to seeing what Rotax is going to do with the TBO time. Secondly are you going to use the original engine and get it to 2400hours?
@SlingPilotAcademy3 жыл бұрын
No, we sent the engine back to Rotax and put on a brand new one.
@KitfoxPilot2 жыл бұрын
Does your 915is ever start bad like shaking for 3 to 5 seconds before running right? I ask because when you started the new one it sounded like mine does. I have to start mine and shut it off then it starts perfect the second time and this is only the first start of the day. No one with rotax has an answer for my problem. I have tried everything. 55 hours and it's done it since first start.
@SouthernSunTV8 ай бұрын
Yes - mine do that, and I can’t get any meaningful answer to what causes it. But I’ve found it’s better to start with throttle barely cracked then it is much smoother.
@KitfoxPilot8 ай бұрын
@@SouthernSunTV I have 350 hours now and it has started that way every first cold start. No help from rotax at all. I have found several that start rough in the last 2 years. Rotax has pretty much said its not their engine problem.....

LOL 1200hr TBO
@pilotavery Жыл бұрын
It's because it's a brand new type of engine, the same as when Continental releases a new engine and it's only 1,000 hours for the first two years. As long as there's nothing wrong with it they are going to increase it to 2,000 hours. This guy is just the first person to get his to this amount of hours.
