Cause Nick at 1st was only a Canadian Channel til Viacom/Paramount bought the Channel in hopes to have a Channel to Compete w/ Disney as Disney back then was more so a Pay Channel as there was no Kids Channel on Cable/Sat Service for Kids on the Free or low Cable Tiered part til Nick then Disney saw that and changed it where both Disney and Nick were apart of every Expanded Lineup together for Kids. As there's been alot of Great Shows that came or aired on Nick but htere imho has been only that has ROT Kids brains and that's Spongebob Squarepants as that show is Killing kids' Brains and should be banned.

So I grew up on Canadian shows, no problem but it sounds kind of funny. I grew up in Buffalo so Canada was a simple trip to me. I also watched the Kids in the Hall a lot, also a Canadian show.

I always thought the "yippee ty yi yay" was a play on the fact that the owner was actually a "city boy". which is why the next lyric is "yippy ty yi what!?" kind of saying," what are you talking about!?" I dunno. lol

Actually, to be honest, you are right. Most of the characters are from elsewhere, on of the girls came from a rich family and so did the owner. I also got the humor as well.

I thought “i don’t remember the lyrics, just the ‘Heeey Duuude” until the song started playing and it instantly came back 😂 I was surprised to hear it ran from 89-91, it seem like it started in the early 90’s. I miss summers of the early and mid-nineties.

Edit: K I found it S1 E13 Tale of the Pinball Wizard but it's either the wrong episode (Tale of Bigfoot Mountain or something) or reviews so again can anyone find it legit???? Edit 2: found it. It's not that no one remembers Hey Dude, just that it was so generic, and bland with nothing really sticking out it's hard for most to remember details of the show. For me it was what I call a time filler show when there was nothing else to do, but watch TV, Nick was trying to fill a time slot on Saturday/Sunday afternoon, and you where waiting for something better to come on like an episode of Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Salute Your Shorts, etc..

I remember so much about the characters and the campy antics of that era of Nickelodeon. The only episode I truly remember is the one when Mr. Ernst hid clues all over the ranch inspiring Ted and Buddy to go on a treasure hunt only to find Mr Ernst's poetry hidden. That episode actually stuck with me as a kid and helped me to be able to write my own poetry later and enjoy taking drama classes in middle school. We need more Mr E in this world.

Oh man, old Nick stuff pushes all of my buttons. Here's a random thing: Mysterious Cities of Gold (which ran on Nickelodeon early in the morning in the 80s) was a French show animated in Japan and translated into English. 30 years after the original season a season 2 was released and it's better than the original run. There's also a season 3, but it hasn't been translated into English, yet.

i remember hey dude, but it was similar to salute your shorts. if i had a pick, i prefer a dude ranch over a summer camp ^^;; i like horses and the landscape. Both shows got me wanting to go to a summer camp, which i ended up going to one. It was a fun experience and went a few summers. My last summer was sad as it had a lot of controversy with girls finding a dead body in the woods while we did a rest room stop. And we come to find out the camp director had child porn on his computer :( nothing of the campers, but was still sad to hear.
