Puss in Boots made his first appearance in the Shrek franchise in Shrek 2 released in 2004, and immediately became one of the fans most beloved characters. So, about 7 years later, after appearing in two more Shrek sequels, Dreamworks decided to give him his own spinoff movie, Puss in Boots, which did pretty well at the box office, although not as well as the three films prior to it. This turned out, though, to be the last installment in the franchise for over a decade, until it was announced earlier this year that they’d be releasing a new story from the tales of Shrek titled Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. So, with the movie coming out in just a few weeks, we think it’s time we go back through Puss’ previous film, which you should make sure to check out, if you haven’t already so you can enjoy it for yourself before continuing on with our recap. And also make sure to go watch each of the four Shrek films released prior to it.

I watched puss in boots when I was a kid, but I didn’t remember any of it. During the last wish when softpaws was introduced, I realized I vaguely remembered her! Awesome feel of nostalgia even though I didn't remember anything else about the movie. Thanks for the recap!

so I juust turned 19 and I watched puss in boots when I was a kid. Honestly, I loved puss in boots 2! Just watched it and I'm kinda glad I watched it at this age because the creativity in the animation was amazing and just the message behind the short movie was nice. Really a 10/10 for me tbh, I wouldn't have appreciated the movie as much if I watched it as the kid version of me.

Not gonna try to be rude or anything but I don't really like the new movie and I don't like when people tell me the first movie was trash. This movie was so much better to me and when I watched the 2nd movie idk why but I just hate the animation compared to the first movie. Like the story is great and all but I just don't like the animation, the old one was so much better for me

It's not in any movie. The event was mentioned in "The Last Wish", but it was never shown actually happening - except of course when Puss tells Perrito about it
