The most important part is that these are gross motor movements that will work under adrenal stress.

Tommy is the master exponent, of the original and authentic, urban fighting techniques, that many of us have been taught in our classes, but his demonstrations, make them practical and applicable for modern combat.

@@Traps510 Lee Morrison, the modern master of urban combat, uses them all the time and they feature heavily in Krav Maga ,mainly cos they're simple, direct and effective moves and under pressure, that's all you're likely to remember.

3:28 Love the reposition while he is blinded, and fire from the new angle, brother. "Nightey-night, Bunny Rabbits!" Love your work.
Even though I'm a terrible fighter, I do like this channel by John Hartson :) I have Fairbairns Get Tough book so it's nice to see the techniques applied. Have you ever done an interview with Hard2Hurt as that's a pretty good channel and your Fairbairn content would be a unique angle.

Thanks for sharing, great stuff. Simple direct and Nonclassical (someone used that phrase before it believe). My father was a US Navy SEABEE during World War 2, I wonder if he was taught similar material.

I was actually unaware of that principle; but now that you have highlighted it, the idea makes perfect sense. From now on I'll make it a point to always administer poison to the tips of my arrows. 🥋👊🇵🇭

Great question. There's plenty of footage of palm strikes, slaps and eye pokes ending fights out there. Loads of it. And most ww2 combatives striking is just that - slaps, palm strikes, hitting with the forearm etc. If you hone it to be VERY specific, very very few organisations and places teach things like the chin jab. Even in say the reality based self defence world - 99% you're being taught a standard palm heel as a straight shot. But in fairness, bio mechanically, something like a chin jab, it's very very close to an uppercut albeit with the palm. Wrapped up and taped up, even in just wraps or mma gloves - there's hardly any risk, so you may as well uppercut. Early pancreas and Japanese MMA platforms showcases the efficacy you can get with these kinds of shots. But the day of those shows are long gone - and there are many many many more trainers out there with a background in boxing, Muay Thai etc. and people (rightly) teach what they know. But you have to remember that these kind of techniques were designed for people with hardly any training at all. On average people got less than 6 hours. Easier to teach a chin jab that can land on anything and do its job - compared to the skill needed to land a clean, effective and powerful bareknuckle uppercut. I love both worlds - combat sports and combatives. For me - the smartest thing people can do if they have the time, money and inclination is do both!
