1. Laundry Brightener & Deodorizer
Brighten your whites and eliminate unpleasant odors in your washing machine by adding some freshly squeezed lemon juice to the detergent compartment. If you have a top load washer, simply pour in the lemon juice during the rinse cycle.
2. Odor-Free Hands
You can also remove unpleasant or strong odors from your hands by washing them with a slice of lemon instead of soap.
3. Cutting Board Disinfectant & Cleaner
On the other hand, if you want to you remove unpleasant odors from your kitchen board, all you have to do is spread salt on the surface of the board, press the cut surface of a halved lemon into the salt, and then rub it back and forth over the board.
4. Lemon Juice Sprayer
Roll a lemon back and forth on a flat surface, gently squeeze it, and then cut off the end. Slightly cut the tube of a spray bottle nozzle to fit the length of the lemon, and then stick it in the center of the lemon. Now you can spray lemon juice directly. FYI: This is a great way to keep apple slices fresh!
5. All-Purpose Cleaner
Put lemon slices in a Mason jar, fill it with vinegar, and let it sit for several days. Then pour the liquid through a sieve and add some more water for an effective all-purpose cleaner.
6. Refrigerator Deodorizer
Place some cotton pads in a small bowl and squeeze half a lemon over them. Place the bowl with the lemon-soaked cotton pads in your fridge and you'll have an instant DIY air freshener.
7. Lemon Dessert Bowls
Scrape out a lemon half and fill the inside with blackberry jam and blackberry mousse for a fun and delicious dessert.
8. Insect Repellent
Place some lemon peels in a paper towel, wrap it up, and place the bundle near windows or doors to keep unwanted bugs out.
9. Kettle Cleaner
Clean the inside of your kettle by heating lemon juice in it.

@EC C i have become addicted to my LJ. Whenever i feel like switching my morning LJ w/a pot of coffee (finest blend, fresh ground beans, natural drip, the whole 9 yards of gourmet)... i pay dearly bcuz it reeks havoc with my intestines 😲 my physician says it's bcuz my blood work since LJ routine shows alkaline level above 7 (anything below is acidic blood & means you are sick). Of course i have aches & pains occasionally like anyone---mine are related to aging, insomnia and other stress issues, not my breakfast. Health is wealth⚘

@@tammiemartinez6485 yes, rx bottles 😊, or any container of your choice. I should have chosen the right word, getting old over here 😁. The rx bottles are a good size for me and don't take up too much space. I don't do anything for leaky containers. That's an all purpose cleaner they are making at 1:45. They say to let it sit for a couple of days but It needs 2 weeks to ferment. I make this because it's not harmful to the lungs like a lot of the cleaners sold in stores. Here's how I make it and I love it: Put peels in a jar. Cover with white vinegar. Store in a cabinet for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks strain it. Fill a spray bottle with half water and half vinegar. Use less water if you want it to be stronger. (I save all of our peels from citrus fruits in the fridge until I have enough to make this. You can mix and match the peels)

Might I offer? MEYERS Lemons r the only way 2 go. 1. Mash roll them before slicing. 2. Don't cut them up. U need the rind intact (halving is ok) inside 4 scrubbing, outside 4 polishing, especially your cabinets, porcelain & floors (don't need anything else). Your not done. Leave the used rinds out overnight. The room will smell good & bugs hate them. Cut 1 4 yourself: whole one 2 eat yourself (Meyers). Use rind 4 manicure/pedicure, &/or add 2 your water or tea, soup, etc. If U r tired of lemon smell, add vanilla. Seeds r easy 2 plant. Yay!

@EC C Oooh - Good 4 U & welcome 2 the world of Meyers lemons, the sweetest lemons ever grown by God. I don't know what region U r n so, ask your favorite produce mgr if they r available n ur area then act accordingly: mash roll that sucker 4 easier slicing, halv it, run ur knife around inside 2 separate pulp which U will pop n ur mouth 1/2 or whole (wo - did I just do that?), pass the seeds around 2 ur neighbors (the latest Meyers lemon tree block), then turn n2 clean freak w/nside of rind, turn over & polish w/outside of rind, or make potpourri. God is very practical! & Don't forget how good your beans taste w/lemon rinds thrown n2 ur bean pot. Yes, U still pour 1/2 - 1C Apple Cider Vinegar in soaking pot 2 get rid of gas. But, if U didn't use ACV b4, now U know you're human. As 4 the bugs I recommend air purifiers like the Ionic Pros 2 zap them 4 good. 2nd hand stores have them.

Pretty sure you know this already , so I am basically commenting for others.... If for some reason you can't finish all four quarters in one sitting and end up with "leftovers", you are now well on your way to having a small batch of "preserved lemons". (Also known as lacto fermented lemons.) The longer they go uneaten, the less "pucker" you get, but the lemon "goo" that they turn into can be used in many ways... One of the easiest being a lemon based homemade salad dressing.

2 important points.. 1.why they do not show that lemon skin should be chopped into salads as it contains tons of beneficial oils and MORE vit C than actual Juice! 2.that vinegar and sliced lemons for spray cleaner.. Next time use Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and after few days drain the liquid squeezing all the juice at the same time.. and DRINK it every morning. Super good for you !

Actually, you don't need lemon to make your hands smell better after cutting garlic or onions... just rub that stainless steel faucet!

I will try some of these ideas, although vinegar works in kettle & washing machine as well. I wouldn't use them while washing clothes though. I don't juice the lemon for kettle though. I just cut it into pieces bowl. Take pieces out & pour the lemony water into toilet bowl to sit overnight. Two things cleaned with one lemon.
