honestly I feel this really does show the timbre diff. between oboe and clarinet. oboe sounds elegant, bright and sharp, while clarinet sounds a lot more mellow and warm in tone. and this is also shown in the professional excerpts they're playing. p. cool stuff ^_^

I see what Josh was trying to do. On clarinet, a half step down would be to press down the middle key (cover the hole whatever) with your right hand. For oboe, a half step down would be to press down the top key. When I was learning oboe, that was one of the hardest things to get used to. Not to mention the fingerings for B-flat and C. I practiced for hours and got so frustrated with it for the first couple of days. Also, where can I learn to smear like that on clarinet? That is the cleanest smear I have ever heard!
