As a clarinetist myself for 5+ years, this is really really impressive. The most key and crucial part of this is to play a note on a clarinet, it must been played and stopped by using your tongue on the reed. Playing singular notes that fast is very impressive because of stopping motion. He wasn't double tonguing either so this clip is legendary.

I played trumpet for a bit before I gave up and chose clarinet. I learned how to double tongue on clarinet (and ofc you kinda have to find that balance b/w using the tip of your tongue and your whole tongue I found that using just below the tip was good for me. It might vary based on the preference and level of the player) and it was easy-ish. Was awkward as hell tho cause who tf likes the feel of the clarinet reed vibrating immensely on the tip of your tongue?PLUS because you're double tonguing on a reed instrument, as you said, the embouchure gotta stay tight so your jaw cramps up a lot when I was practicing this. On a funny note though, a few times I actually yawned in the middle of practicing the double-tonguing for so long cause my throat and jaw were so open (at the time I was just starting to practice) so it simulated the thing where you open your mouth for a while and after a few seconds you start to yawn xD very funni...
