Russia seems to be on a similar path to that of China in terms of presenting history. In 2019, China blocked access to Wikipedia in all languages. Instead, the people living and working there can access Baidu Baike, which is a Chinese-language internet encyclopedia. Unlike Wikipedia, Baidu Baike complies with the Chinese Communist Party's censorship demands. And now, a new version of history is taking shape in Russia, where sensitive moments have been rewritten to align with Putin's likes, according to the Economist. Watch this video for more.

Wikipedia infirmations are often manipulated or changed according to the mindset of the person. Many useful information for exemple from medicine, anatomy, science we can find there but, when it comes to politics, history, economics we can't rely fully on the informations. As constantly new details of historical events are revealed at present, there is not any source of informations we can trust fully. So let the Russians make they own Wikipedia, it will be just one more source of informations to study and to make our own, probably still only temporary opinion.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia has never been an unbiased source of information. It is reliable on the latest scientific or ancient history discoveries, but not on more 'modern' history. It is a very politicised site - one should always check different sources before using Wiki as an authority.

@@rjohansen9486 Wikipedia publishes the USA/NATO version of history, politics, and economics, no doubt a Russian 'wikipedia' would publish a Russian version....and the Chinese 'wikipedia' will publish a Chinese version. Maybe if we could all access all the different versions, we might be able to get a glimpse of the truth. But, it has long been said that 'history is written by the winners', so having several versions of 'history' may be logical. If you can not see how politicised many Wikipedia articles are, you are probably wearing blinders.

@@lornamackay4069 There is no NATO version of history, politics and economics. Your way of obtaining history/facts/truth is very flawed. Dictatorships will always try to brainwash people with their "truth" and block objective facts. But in the free West there is of course many, many sources you could choose from. And it's pretty easy for someone who have lived a free life to know who to trust. But it is worse with the brainwashed, the conspiratorial and those who can hardly be saved anyway.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source for current 'history' - anything that has happened in the past 200 years is only presented from a "Western" (USA/NATO) propaganda perspective. Anyone who uses Wikipedia as a reference for truth is misleading their readers/listeners.
