Putin has an issue with nato being neighboring the borders of russia. Quite simple to understand why really. Exactly! So many media outlets keep going on about how NATO is a 'purely defensive' alliance so Russia shouldn't be worried. But the fact is that any action can be construed as a 'threat' and used to start a war if necessary. Russia is rightly worried about Ukraine coming under the NATO alliance... But at the same time, this is something that could've easily been negotiated between the two nations without bloodshed if the west wasn't so keen on exerting it's influence and meddling where it doesn't belong.

@@alexanderritter4311 I know in the past Russians have been very divided, but what I've witnessed with Chinese (with whom I have more experience) is that the Trump years alienated a lot of the formerly pro-American/pro-Western younger individuals, so now there is much greater consensus among the general population than there would have been during, say, the Obama years. Obviously, Russia and China are two very different countries, but I wouldn't be surprised if the evolution of mainstream sentiment toward a more anti-American/anti-Western stance has been similar between the two.

I believe there is not a single country in the world where all people approve of their leader. I can speak only for myself, my family and friends. My father lives in Crimea and he tells that Americans had started building a military base after the coup in Ukraine. Basically, America needs an ENEMY to keep its people united. That’s why US demonises Putin.

So far, The Daily Show is the only late night talk-show that presents this Russia and Ukraine issue in a more balanced way. Others don't even mention the problem with NATO literally being at Russia's borders. Unless I have missed it.

NATO does not have an army training on Russia’s borders . Unless Ofcourse Russia doesn’t want to have any land borders with nations who don’t agree with them 100% . Another thing is, how many bordering countries has Nato invaded? NATO exists solely because of Russian intimidation and aggression. Its like a bully getting mad , when you defend yourself
