Putin Forced This Russian TV Channel to Close - Now It’s Back

TV Rain was Russia’s only independent news channel. After Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, its website was blocked and its journalists had to flee-but its KZbin views shot up. Now the channel is relaunching in Amsterdam to bring the truth of the war back to Russia.

i've been a Dozhd viewer since 2014, was shocked, when they were closed. the world became so epmty. it was the only tv channe i was watching. my dad, a pro-putin, were watching it too, and this channel showed and explained a lot of things to people like my own dad, now he only watches proputins TV channels and repeats the same propaganda stuff that they are saying there. My dad is not the same person, he is ready to write a denunction on me to the police. i hope i will be able to run away from this country, i'm saving money for that for so many years, but with my salary it looks impossible...

This war had been heavy for both the Nordics and Europe, though that may not be so polite of me to say when Russians unwillingly conscriped into this war and Ukrainians defending their homelands suffer, no matter if they are in buildings bombed into smitherens or stuck in the trenches. I am not optimistic about how this war will develop. While the Ukrainians are doing really well, I expect this war to last for years. I want you to know that most of us, or at least I do not blame you or the Russian people for what the Russian government is making you guys do. As a Russian I'm deeply sorry and devastated because of all the atrocities that were unleashed by Putin. He doesn't represent all of the Russians, but at the same time a slight majority of those who live in Russia stick by him [for now]. Those Russians who are against the war and publicly condemn it either left Russia and are trying to set up a new life (like me and other millions of people) in the nearby countries like Georgia, Armenia, Turkey and EU, or stay in Russia and suffer phycologically because all they can do is to pray on Putin's regime downfall. Reminds me of the early days of the Daily Show that was mostly a just a comedy show but turned to serious politics following 911 and became a small source of alternative news/opinions amongst a sea of corporate media. It easy to see how Americans were detached from the Iraq War. When it was a country halfway across the world with a completely different culture, and no military draft. Yet to see the same propaganda being effective for a war that's happening right on their border in a country where a lot of people have friends and family is pretty amazing.
