Even with Paul's own numbers, the male, fighting age advantage of Russia is 3:1 over Ukraine. Russian losses are somewhere between 3:1 and 10:1. Russia has a net manpower deficiency because of their complete lack of care of whether their troops survive a given operation. Plus, the foreigners that Ukraine has received as volunteers are insanely more capable and experienced than the dupes that Russia is getting.

@Texas240
@Texas240 10 күн бұрын
@@williamalexander9485 -Hi, thanks for the comment. You're right that Russia has enjoyed an artillery advantage for most of the war. However, let's clear some things up. First, Russia has not had a 10:1 artillery advantage during the entire war. Indeed, for a period before Western aid stopped flowing, Ukraine held a daily artillery fires advantage. Further, Russias artillery advantage was impacted by its own ammunition troubles as it was reconstituting old Soviet era rounds that are only marginally better than the North Korean rounds (probably also old Soviet rounds) with a relatively high failure rate. Russia had also had issues maintaining artillery advantage due to shooting out the barrels on its guns from its high fires count early in the war along with Ukraine making artillery a high priority and using Western artillery counter battery radar, drones, and other means to locate the Russian artillery and then it's longer ranged Western artillery along with other long range fires (HIMARS) and drones to eliminate Russian artillery. All of that put a dent in the Russian artillery advantage from early in the war which you try to indicate has held throughout the war. Second, artillery is MUCH more effective against troops (and vehicles) out in the open than troops that are in built up earthworks defenses. For the most part, Russia has been happy to oblige Ukraine by sending its troops out into the open. Third, even when Russia has had an artillery advantage, Ukraine has had advantage in other long range fires (HIMARS, Storm Shadow, drones) which Ukraine uses against military targets instead of apartment blocks, restaurants, schools, hospitals, and other primarily civilian targets. Actually attacking military targets helps increase troop casualties. Surprise, right? Russia may have an artillery advantage overall during the war, but Ukraine cares about its personnel while Russia doesn't. And, Ukraine has advantages that mitigate the Russian advantage (fighting from fortified defenses and advantages in other types of long range fires, as a couple). Thanks again for the comment and the opportunity to clarify some of your misconceptions.

How do the various foreigners from Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, etc. communicate with the Russians? Do the Russians speak the languages of the recruits? Do the recruits speak Russian? I feel - sort of - sorry for the foreign fighters who probably fell for all kinds of lies from the Russian recruiters. And once they're in Russia - what are they supposed to do? It's not like they can say to heck with this, this is not what we signed up for, and catch a civilian jet back home! And if they're killed - what do the Russians care, they're not Russians, they were just useful desperate tools. Their families back in their home countries will experience the same treatment from the Russian government as other Russians who live outside of St. Petersburg and Moscow receive. Oh, they went AWOL or are missing in action - forever. No families ever get the money and benefits promised, no bodies are ever returned. There's a reason the Russians have those on the battleground crematoriums on site!

It’s easier to attract poor educated people to fight in the front than it to find educated people come and fix the issues of Russian survival. After the sanctions Russia lost educated class, both Russian and foreign. Russia’s oil industry relied heavily on foreign engineers in its oils industry just to keep it open. To replace and repair the damage caused by attacks is not something a few $100 extra a month per man will fix. The working class in Russia isn’t being sent to fight in the manufacturing town either. What I understand is that Russia is a country that needs a lot of men to just maintain infrastructure and internal state and security. Putin just raised taxes because he can’t afford the war, the cost of all that state personnel and the free maintenance of some utilities the state does in the huge country. A shortage of labour is already a problem, a lot of fire fighters, truck drivers, security personnel, draftees already work for or fight in the army and millions fled. Putin needs men he cannot afford to lose without endangering internal stability. Or it will hurt the economy or make people angry they have bad roads, floods, forrest fires, frozen pipes, … The first that will be affected are the other republics because he will prioritise to safe guard the ethic Russian hart land. It is just a question of time before dissent will rise. They are not concerned about politics if everything is liveable. But when they do get mad, they can be very intense people.And inflation keeps rising and the cost of labour too. But not the wages of the poor people who work in non essential jobs or the pension of the retirees. He should raise the retirement age but that is very unpopular. Ukraine knows his weak spot is money. They attack refineries inside Russia. They attack the Black Sea fleet because it cannot be replenished because of Turkey. It is a vital trade route if Ukraine could make it difficult to protect the Russian cargo vessels and installations in the Black Sea …Crimea is the most important strategic piece of land for Ukraine and Russia. Who owns it can control Azov and the Black Sea trade routes.

One might have contempt contempt for any foreign national that goes to fight for Russia for whatever reason. But the fact of the matter is, most of these people are so financially desperate they're willing to take the risk. Problem is, they fall prey to smooth talking Russian recruitment propaganda that sugar coats the Ukraine experience. When they get in theater, many of their life expectancies are measured in minutes or hours at best. The Cubans are growing wise to this after dozens have come home in 5 gallon buckets.

@@Peacewar2020 The other way of looking at this is that the already dire financial situation in Sri Lanka was further exacerbated by the unwelcome increases in food and fuel prices caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Of course Putin seized the opportunity to look like a saviour by providing aid to Sri Lanka and many other African countries also struggling with high prices of food and fuel. China also swooped in like a vulture to take over Hambantota Port, in exchange for cancelling debt. Also, the West is having to pump billions into supporting its ally Ukraine against the Ruzzian invaders, so not much spare money available to distribute elsewhere like Sri Lanka. Not sure if it's mainly because of US/Western diplomacy although diplomats would certainly would have dropped lines. That might be giving US to much pull. With the US aid to Ukraine resuming it's clear the war will not be over this summer. Having years of manpower drain, protest by widows and mothers who lost their sons and husband and at the end having an ever growing contingent of veterans returning simply is not an interesting perspective for any government. And once one government is going to raise it complains to Russia, pressure on other governments will develop to do the same. That it happens in a short space of time in multiple countries is not that strange, especially as they all are in the same region. It does not need an outside force to arrange it all.
