Russia was forced to war by the West. NATO constantly expanding eastwards after promisses made they wouldn't do that and now also wanting to include Ukraine in NATO. That was a very understandable red line for Russia because that would mean losing their important naval base they have on Crimea (which historically also was part of Russia) and NATO missiles stationed relatively close to Moskou. The US wouldn't accept Russia stationing their army and missiles on their Mexican border also (like they also didn't during the CUBA-crisis). All that combined with the discrimination and poor treatment of the ethnic Russian population in eastern Ukraine caused this war. The West is mostly to blame for the current situation. Russia (and the citizens of Ukraine) are the victims...

This war is going to end just like most people familiar with conflicts knew it would 2 years ago. Ukraine never had any chance of victory, especially not on its own. The massive disaster which was their summer (PR) offensive which resulted in catastrophic losses to the AFU with basically zero gains was the final chance to turn things around, and they failed that. Now the east are liberated back to Russia and Khavkiv and Odessa will return with them. It will be interesting to see if Poland retakes Lviv, as most people expect them too. What's left will be a failed state for decades to come, with an enormous bill to pay to the US. 😊
