It should be understood that "reservists" in Russia is not like reservist in western militaries. In the USA, the National Guard - or state militias - is the reserve of the armed forces, army national guard, air national guard etc. These are well trained units who are integral to the armed forces and very well equipped - and can be at the front within a few weeks if not days. In Russia, reservists are what in the USA we would call the "ready reserve"... not all that ready to be honest, just former military veterans who are on a list in the Pentagon. Most have not seen a weapon or inside a military barracks in years and years. What Russia is basically doing is instituting a draft among the 2 million in its 'ready reserve'. They will draft the 300K within that list who they deem necessary to their war effort... Mostly young, former conscripts, likely with combat training. They will not go willingly or happily. This is the beginning of the end, for when you weaponize people who don't like what you are doing and see themselves as nothing but meat for the grinder, then you are finished. Ask the Czar in 1905 or in 1917... those were conscripts that stormed the Kremlin. Lesson: Don't give weapons to people who may not be on your side - especially when you have a poor officer corps.
@KatiePhongh2 жыл бұрын
Even within US Army Active Reserve units it takes months to get them to the battle field. First they will begin the process of activation which alone takes about a week of doing paperwork, getting inoculations, making a will, drawing new equipment, doing extensive inventories of everything from their uniforms to vehicle parts, packing thousands of palates of gear and supplies and so on... Then just about every Active Reserve combat unit will be deployed to a major training center for at least another month of intensive combat training at places like NTC in California. Then they are deployed to combat. For the Russians it will take them at least 6 months to put anyone in Ukraine who can tell which end of a rifle is dangerous let alone be combat effective. This is a joke. Russia is done. All that is left is the slow creep of inevitability as tens of thousands of young Russian men die in the mud of a cold rainy Ukrainian spring.
@geofo602 жыл бұрын
Will we see a repeat of the Battle for Stalingrad with respect to these conscripts ? One "rifle" between three men and when the first one falls, the next one in line picks up the weapon and so on? Or will it be a repeat of the last couple of months, where they will drop it and run away ?

I think that Russia's issue that resulted to poor performance in the Ukraine war was lack of efficient weapons in sufficient numbers and not lack of personel. This will definitely not end well not for poortin nor for Russian civilians

Maybe fighting the whole of NATO as well as Ukraine is the reason only 20% of Ukraine is held at this point. Without the constant supply of weapons, intel and personnel from the collective West, Ukraine would now be in a state of peace.

I saw an interesting video on this. Basically historically Russia has always had a limited core of highly trained soldiers (who are mostly already in Ukraine, or dead at this point) and the rest are basically feudal peasant style army cannon fodder. So that in mind you can see why this could really back fire on Putin.

@@authenticshift5515 that's exactly why he is such a poor strategist and a hazard to his own people. The Pentagon actually has a mathematical equation for troops needed. Russia never had enough men, and 300,000 more still isn't enough. Experts say to maintain Peace and Security you need at least 1 Soldier for every 50 inhabitants. So Putin needs nearly a million men. The equation seems strange, but it's been proven repeatedly.

What do you think Russian reservists will be like? Will Russian reservists be well trained and in condition to be ready to be on the front line, because that is where they are needed and that's where they will be sent. Will Russian reservists be better than their conscripts who have been nothing but cannon fodder for over half a year of this special operation. Will Russian reservists even show up when called? We'll soon see if Russian reservists can save Putin and his special operation. Will Russians continue to support Putin when his reservists fall in battle, are buried in mass graves in the Donbas and Lugansk, never to come home again. We will soon see what happens.

Yes war now but had war with journalist too. In russia they are afraid of old women especially if journalist and then have to send several hitmen instead he being man to do it him selves say The Guardian and as one user commentator say about the article: "Bezdomny 5 Oct 2016 13:07 - I still remember the day Politkovskaya died. Her bravery existed in such sharp relief to the cowardice that the elite has infused in Russian society. People have been forced to live in solitary confinement; keep your head down, let society crumble so you can hold onto your own family like a life raft, or so you think. Because in a world like this, the waters are always rising, and there is never any holding onto anything. I somethings think that deep down, the true hatred of people like Elena Kostyuchenko is not that they report the truth, but that they remind an otherwise cowed and cynical citizenry that there are people who will still sacrifice for the higher ideals that they have long since thrown away for this thing we call survival. It's like a sea of caterpillars that would rather shoot down butterflies, rather than soar themselves. But I hope, one day, Russia will soar." Calling Russian = "..the cowardice that the elite has infused in Russian society." Killing old women is a cowardice action in most countries but not in Russia there its business as usual even everybody knows who did it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ3OpIV-jqymr7s How you thinking as humans Russians?
