That went away with Reagan and Gorbachev, and we were almost happy for a while, but the fear of nuclear death is back. We need to tell the world, collectively, from the United Nations, that we're not going to be threatened anymore. "I have a gun! I'm not afraid to use it! Now give me all your money!" is no longer something we're going to condone. We only live 110 years as humans, if we make it even that far, and then we die. From something or other. We need to stop being frightened of that. We need to find our collective courage. Our military is quite limited and we are also facing our own crises, such as immigration issues largely due to France. Moreover, I think Russia would likely win either way. What you see on the news isn’t always accurate, as the manpower Russia has sent into Ukraine so far has been relatively small. That is completely false, on the 11th of April 1941, the British ambassador to the USSR warned the Russians of an attack. Afterwards Churchill and Roosevelt wrote to Stalin warning him about the number of German troops on the polish border and Stalin wrote them off. The Soviets and Germans were allied at that time. Meanwhile Britain was at war with Germany so they’re warnings went on deaf ears. It wasn’t until operation Barbarossa happened that the UK and Soviets allied themselves And your right about Churchill or really anyone in the UK or US liking the Soviets, but Germany was a larger issue which allowed them to coexist for the war
