I'm a German and my Grandfather was fighting in World War 2 and was captured in Russia. He had spend some years in a prisoner of war camp in Russia before he got released. If somebody would have been proud of what happend in the Second World War he would be completely ashamed. And he would be disgusted of people that have stickers on their cars supporting WWII....I mean I get why Russians act this way, because in the Second World War Russia was defending and Germany of offending. But still....does ANYBODY want this kind of shit happen again? I mean, whats wrong?

@@AB-ko4b That’s because the missile only carried inert warheads, the Iskanders is a medium range missile (max of 500km) that isn’t equipped with MIRV technology like the RS-26. The RS-27 is a missile that was developed in violation of the medium/intermediate missile treaty because intermediate missiles can’t fly further than 5000km and the RS-26 can reach 6000KM and was tested at 5800KM. The difference in payload is one 500kg warhead for the Iskander and six 150kg warheads for the RS-26.

The deployment of this medium-range missile should not be taken too seriously. It was clearly an attempt to frighten the Europeans, but at the same time to irritate the Americans as little as possible. You can see this clearly from the place where the missile hit, which was very far to the east, and the American army was informed in good time before the launch. Even if many Russians are not intelligent enough to realise that if, as Putin has threatened, cities in NATO countries are also attacked with such missiles, but then with nuclear warheads, the larger cities in Russia would also be attacked by the West. Putin knows this very well. Then he can only retreat into his bunker and never come out again. Which he certainly doesn't want to do. Why would he have amassed all his wealth then, he certainly didn't do it to live in his old age in an underground bunker? So once again, these were empty threats from Putin.

Hi 👋, I was born in 1960, I’m a bit older than you, and I had nightmares over the fear of a Nuclear war. This intensified after watching a few movies which portrayed nuclear strikes ( bad parenting !) one I saw was a submarine that surfaced, and discovered the entire World was dead, that’s my childhood nightmare, no one lived, and it wasn’t till my twenties I stopped having nightmares, the Cuba threat escalated my fear, it may have been before I was born , but was made aware how close we came to a nuclear conflict ( quick side note, I’ve been to Cuba twice , 2 weeks the fist time and 3 weeks the second, I loved Cuba , its history its people very vibrant, but you could feel the undertone, police on almost every street corner. You were being watched, the immigration desk at the airport was the Scariest I’ve ever felt , even worse than the officer in Boston, cold 🥶. , Even so I loved Cuba, I can understand how people in Russia feels they are being watched) So back to my childhood peppered with a fear of Russia , so in my 20s I never worried about a nuclear war, and to be totally honest I’m like Putin either do it or shut up, we also have nuclear capabilities and we won’t wait for the dust to settle, and mankind gone in a blink of an eye , my 40 yr old very intelligent daughter and I spoke about it only today, hoping that we will be hit close , gone before we can comprehend what’s happening. But at least I had 30+ yrs of no worry over nuclear war, just paying the mortgage. Goodnight

I think you didn't explain the most important aspect of that. Putin wanted to show how unrestrained he is, but he has actually shown the opposite. He could not use nukes, so he used a nukes-only missile without warheads. I am pretty sure that there weren't even any explosives loaded on that missile, because it was not designed for it. that would be a terrible waste. anyway, so besides showing that their missile works, wat has he gained? I think Ukraine launched more ATACMS today into Russia, so the bluff was exposed, another reduction in Russia's deterrence

To be fear, this time they did indeed use a hypersonic weapon, but then all medium and long range ballistic missiles are hypersonic because they go on a suborbital trajectory. With MAX 11 this wasn't really an ICBM, it doesn't have the necessary velocity to reach another continent.

Thanks Again K. I think you're right about Putin. This is why R & the US agreed to eliminate this class of missile. B/c any launch can EASILY cause a miscalculation. That said, Gus of the Millennium 7 YT channel (who I think is hit and miss) speculates the Oreshnik it is a derivation of the Bulava R-30 that is uprated to carry 6X6 MIRV rings that independently target. It's a VERY expensive piece to consume. But 36 kinetic hits from 1 missile is new I think. I'm not sure I've heard of a missile in that class carrying THAT many MIRVs. According to Gus they hit the complex of a Ukr missile manufacture compound, and being kinetic objects, they possibly penetrated any hardened deep structures. He's hit and miss.. and sometimes seems to be a fan of adversarial tech that has been shown to be lackluster by other analyst.... so.. grain of salt. But clearly that wasn't ONE set of 6 hits, but about 6 set of 6.

Putin: "Don't force me to hit you again!" That's just bully talk. At the beginning of the invasion, you could see by the Russian troop deployments, how little he feared a NATO invasion. It sounds like a good reason, and has truthiness, for Russians. "NATO made me do it." Here in the West, we laugh at the suggestion that NATO was so decisive and effective in influencing Russian behavior. We're like, "Oh, really? NATO got together and bullied the Kremlin? Tell me another whopper!" But I guess within Russia, that accusation makes sense.

I am too flippant. The I was 14 and living in Miami in 1962. Several ready divisions moved into Miami/Dade occupying vacant spaces, race tracks. Jets thundered at all hours from Homestead and the other bases. Anti aircraft batteries were in high alert. Fleets were converging for the ,landing assaults 100 miles away. It was not a happy period. And then the world woke up, stopped playing world level chess games, both in Washington, Moscow, and the other capitals. In this context, especially in comparison with the likes of Kennedy, Khrushchev, DeGaule, etc. Putin rates as an intellectual and moral shrimp. But my attitude is very dangerous. Just because Putin ranks along with, maybe, Francisco Franco does not mean he couldn’t spark catastrophes exceeding Ukraine, ten fold. My expectation, however, is that the odds increase radically to the extent that he is successful in his bullying.

Konstantin--- a ballistic missile is one that is only powered by the initial burst of energy at the time of launch, literally like a bullet (or to be technical, like the ancient ballista). I am sure that Russia has launched many, many ballistic missiles at Ukraine. There are short-range, medium range, even intercontinental ballistic missiles; they may also carry one or more explosives in their warheads, or other sorts of offensive materials such as poison gas or germs. They may be able to accurately strike the intended target, or not. Surely to describe the missile as "ballistic" is intended to imply that it is somehow particularly more dangerous than others, like an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying nuclear weapons. The Katyusha missiles of WWII were ballistic. The Ukrainian defense minister said this recent one is one of only two prototypes Russia has made; to use it is an act of desperation.

The Ballistic missile that hit Ukraine had dummy warhead but still the kinetic energy of impact is significant, will he dare to use explosive warheads next time, hopefully not cause these things cant be intercepted by conventional means

Konstantin, Seen videos of western "experts" examining the video of the impact of the warheads and noticed that they were practice warheads with a mild steel case and items inside to make equivalent weight of a real nuclear warhead from a medium range ICBM. could this be a warning because he's running out of options? Maybe.

On the video of the missile strike, it seems as there aren’t any explosions. Was it an exercise version? Or did they forget to add explosives? Or maybe afraid to, in case it failed?

The only thing the missile proves is that Russia may have a very effective means to attack & neutralize large installations, like airbases, which might cause some NATO nations to rethink their airbase strategies a bit.. However, airforces using dispersed basing will pretty much be unaffected by this missile, so the counter is kind of already known..🧐

A ballistic missile might be easier to intercept then a cruise missile. First of all : most ballistic missiles fly at mach 10. The way to destroy them is in their mid course trajectory in space. The USA uses THAAD for that job.. UA has no defence against these missiles. Cruise missiles fly on a low speed very close to the ground and use terrain mapping to find their destination to avoid radar detection. Besides that some cruise missiles have even stealth capabilities. That means they are in general hard to detect so hard to destroy.

There is zero interest tu use this kind of missile and it cost 250 000 000 $ each. No accuracy, nothing more than a usual missile. Communication only.
