Chef Rose of Caro and Marie, Cebu

Puto Balanghoy is also called Puto Lanson or Puto Taktak. This is a kakanin made with grated cassava, coconut and brown sugar. It is perfect for snack or dessert. The modern version now puts bukayo as a filling because this puto is not sweet without the filling. They call this puto taktak because you remove it from the mold, you tap or “taktak” it.

Difficult to get fresh coconut. Can we use dedicated coconut? Half the measurement or as is?

Yes use dessicated coconut. Add water to hydrate it and add sugar as needed in the recipe.

Yes pwede but hydrate the dessicated coconut with a little warm water so it will not be very dry.

Baka matanda na ang cassava mo. You can add coconut milk next time or buy a younger cassava. Please do try again.
