Alright welcome to the Respawn Putting Method. Created to help everyone not only make some more 1 putts but also help keep your green work under 2 putts per green. I put a ton of time into this so hopefully it will help you shave some strokes off your score out on the course.
This is episode 3 of my tips, tricks, and tutorials videos that will be released episodically over the course of the next couple of weeks. With over 2000 hours of play time in the Golf Club series I wanted to put these videos out to help everyone improve their game out on the course.

Well explained. It definitely works. It's pretty much what I've been doing and did in 2019 and I was a gun putter on that. Still workin it out a bit on this version. Been using this method for years. I remember working it out on the old TW's games. I'm old lol.

I started using the pinch grip w/ putting. It made it extremely easier w/ swing plane. Brought it over to my regular swing and made this game so much easier!! Definitely helped to keep a consistent swing tempo. I’m playing on Pro difficulty. Probably averaging 4-5 under par.

Thank you so much for this. I used the counting method in 2019 with success. 100 hours on this game and I feel like I'm barely improving. I get on the greens and mindlessly putt for some reason. I think absence of the d pad is to blame and I feel lost and haven't myself tried any math on the greens. Will give this a go when I get off work. Thanks dude!

Heard you mention this and wow what a method. I’m typically placing around 3rd in society events because I’ve burned a few edges. Maybe this will help me cash out! My brain functions better with numbers and math involved (do math puzzles in my free time haha) and I think this will help! I tried a few times and I think getting the measurement of each click will be the main struggle. Seem to not give it enough click. Thanks broski I’m sure it’ll come together soon! Edit: do you know how many clicks are in each half yard? Or yard? That way I can gauge?

I like this method, but I play with mouse and keyboard which is a little different. Have you tried just assigning say 20 taps to the left or right per grid instead of counting the taps?

I more than likely will not tackle the wind and how to judge for that as it takes thousands of swings and unfortunately I don't have the time for it. There are some other great wind tutorials though that are available from other creators.

If you have to make exceptions based on 50 feet, why not just scoot out to 30 feet so your button presses are always adjusting the same amount of degrees? Then adjust for your speed last?

This system works best for a slow to fast green speed. Very slow and very fast greens have their own nuances that I have plans to make a video on individually.

I was having the playstation issue with putter and the bar stopping/decreasing. It wasn't the PS. It was the controller. I changed to a new controller and haven't had any issues since.

I'm slightly colorblind so it's hard for me with determining the hues inbetween the different slopes.

I don't have PGA 2K21. However, I just started playing (again) TGC, this game's predecessor. I suck at putting. I never knew about the counting method. Everything you discuss here should improve my TGC putting. THANK YOU. Unfortunately, TGC lacks a power meter. And the putting grid does not extend from the hole to the player. sidebar: I gave up on TGC because I couldn't keep any shot straight. I watched another PGA 2K21 video, where the commentator stated, "Play with a controller. If you play with a mouse and keyboard...good luck." I never thought about that. I switched from my mouse/keyboard to a controller. BOOM! Instant improvement. TGC is now fun. Eventually, I may buy PGA 2K21.

Why do you think swing speed slow and very slow occur. I’d wager a lot that says I did not swing slow or very slow, but rather, there is some sort of lag to the server issue causing it.

This video is mainly geared towards green speeds anywhere between slow to fast. Very slow and very fast are each their own beast and while i dont have a video on em now i may add one at one point as I start to create other tutorials in the next month.

Great video respawn. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I'm not sure whether the putting has changed in recent updates or the fact I am using PS4 and you are using PC. The clicks were way to small on my controller to make this work... I tried on < 10ft as well as over

Yeah everyone is different for sure. I would use this as a baseline and find what amount of "clicks" work for you. As soon as you find that number this method becomes easily repeatable. So, if 2 clicks of the stick for you is equal to my one, you can repeat that with doubling the number.

I've been watchin your qualifying vids and my stupid brain didn't click that the power meter was off for the society. I just figured you'd turned it off by choice so it was a bit of a shock to system when I started the Q event. Had to quit and give myslef a crash course in putting without it on lol. Hadn't really tried to putt without it yet. I was -4 and doin alright in the first round until I had a putting melt down on the 17th and crushed a like 7 footer past the hole a few times and went for a quad bogey. It was breakin a lot and the read wasn't great either, but yeah, need a bit more practise without it lol. Finished even par which isn't too bad I suppose first time without the putting meter but I'm like +2 after the first 9 of the 2nd round so need to pull my finger out, get em finished and get a few birdies lol

This sucks but at the same time I laughed a little bit thinking about what it looked like with you realizing that the meter was off. Going through your settings, making sure everything is turned on, sitting there for a second saying WTF to yourself. Honestly hopping in and shooting as well as you did without it though for the first time is pretty impressive. It took me a while to get used to it being off and for you it will as well but once you get the hang of it it is so much better off. You will only improve from here on out.

Ive been really struggling to make any putts in 2k23 does this video hold true still? You use to have a really good video on how to "Get better" but I cant seem to find it any more :(. Anyways this will be extremely helpful once I start hitting greens again.

I just had this happen to me in CC-K tournament where I had a 10ft putt and pushed it right. The comebacker pushed it right - 4 times in a ROW!!!! Happened on the next hole too. What causes that? My swing plane looked like a J but I took my thumb off the controller each time and made sure the ball of my thumb was on the indentation of the xbox controller. It literally will cause me to miss the cut this week!!! This is just as frustrating as golf IRL!!

I play no grids very rarely. I would say to help read the green turn on putt and approach camera and look at the putt from all angles like you are out on the course.

Hi This tutorial is very helpful. However I am using the original ps4 controller and I cannot figure out how to "click" and count in order to put my target as there is no such option with my controller but only the regular left joystick...

When I say "click", I essentially mean pushing the stick over to the housing in fast succession. So, if I say 10 clicks, I mean pressing the stick over to the joystick housing and doing it 10 times in quick succession.

Man this games tough and unforgiving. Tried the first course 4 times and best I got was +7 and that's with switching to the 2 thumb method mentioned on here. Putting is hard too. I remember Hot Shots and Tiger Woods 12 being so much easier than this.

Great video, thanks! One question - how do you account for a situation on say a long putt that breaks a good bit, so the left to right change then sends the putt over a hill that wasn’t a part of the height change in the original calculation? This is probably overthinking, but just curious if you had a method for that, or if that puts you into the “take your best guess” territory.

This isn't overthinking at all, it is just hard to give every scenario in a video that is already 50 minutes long lol. So I account for the hill by either adding or decreasing distance. If the putt was 4 inches up and by moving to the left/right it is going up the hill now at 10 inches that is something that you need to add on. You can get aggressive and add all the additional distance onto your power but you run the risk of running it past the hole. With the increased elevation that means that it is going to pick up more speed breaking right towards the hole as you are hitting it further up the hill. So you can get aggressive and go for it or you can add about half the distance and look to just get a good lag putt close for a 2-putt. Now this scenario is if it is a longer putt. On shorter putts under 20 feet the elevation shouldn't be that big of a difference so you can just add a little extra power or take some away and still be fine.

Great video. This helps a lot...just one small problem for me. I'm colorblind...oranges and yellows will be tough lol. I will just have to get used to looking at speed and judging the best I can for each yard block. The faster blocks will be much tougher. Thanks!

Yeah there are 2 ways. The speed of the beads and the color. You can get used to the bead speed with practice, you got this.

I haven't gotten a true multiplier. I've been using the same method for this across all green speeds and adjusting on the fly. Know it's not the best route to do but probably won't have the time to do all the proper testing needed.

In difficulty, turn on Aim marker. The in display HUD settings change distance info position to "on marker"

i think that, if you make an tutorial, you should say its with mouse/keyboard or gamepad. Ive used both and its diffrent, the hit of the key isnt the same as the flick of the stick.

Make sure course yardage and aim marker are on within the difficulty settings and distance info position is on marker in Display and HUD settings.

each square is 20 taps. Much easier to calculate. 10 is half... Can't stand the waiting for a pulse, it makes me cringe. has to be a better system. always have it 50 feet, would be great and go from there

Everyone and how they "tap" is different. Mine is 13 for a half and 26 for full. I don't like waiting for the pulse either but this is the game we have.

This game is pretty tough. I like the challenge. I'm sorry, but using the vibration feature for putting is flat out cheating. You may as well just use the meter. No difference. Instead of a visual clue you are getting a haptic feedback clue. Either one tells you exactly where to start the downswing. How lame.
