I saw one of those lifts yesterday on a fully lifted 3500 dually with tractor trailer tires. I have no idea how the guy uses it to tow anything. It was up above his tow hitch by about a foot.

Next time you have to do this task get you some jack stands lift one end of the car with the wrecker put the jack stands under the frame and let it back down and it will leverage the back in the air so you can change your tires or at least enough to get your jack under it that's what I used to do when I drove a wrecker

Yeah since cars are designed to run under power( for eg you rarely see rally drivers use their breaks, they use the gears) Manuel cars are arguably safer. In fact in NZ in the past you could not sit for your driver's licence in a car with an automatic transmission

The Opel needs a V6...It's wider but shorter than a banger... I haven't seen it done ,However it is 1 cylinder shorter.. I hear a 90 degree V6 like Buick will swap... With enough cutting welding grinding and cash you can Stuff Any engine into it...
