I enjoyed watching this video. I did a similar thing in Indonesia years ago. I can relate to everything your doing. P.S. Timber frame is ok, you can prevent termites by using Turpentine mixed with sump oil. For limestone soils, you can add Dolomite. It opens up the limestone.

I've watched a ton of PH's videos everyday for the last 6 years and what you have going on in the province from your house and your truck to the chickens and the bananas is the life I would like the most for myself.

Good to see the house is coming along nicely, Seems the guys you hired are doing a very good job. If I may I'd like to suggest your lady friend get a good pair of leather/suede gloves since she does some of the work herself, I cringed a bit when she was picking up those old sheet metal roof with her bare hand - I like the humor you add at the end of your videos :) I just subscribed and good luck with your channel and your house / new life in the Philippines !!!

Thank you for the kind words. I hope we are done with the rusty metal, but I could count the Filipinos on one hand that wore anything but flip flops to a job!

Two things you should have done is put insulation below roof and take out wood and put steel above ceiling. Termites will eat any wood.

I'm surprised the multicab takes almost a full panel. The roof looks great, plenty of red horse with the capital gains. It's funny the blanc stares when asking about insulation, I don't think you are going to need them with that pitch. She spraying tire protectant and then proceeding to spray the seats while you observe in silence was a Mike moment... The little geckos are your friends, they eat little insects including dengue mosquitoes. I thought Mike was an imaginary guy but now we know she can see him too, or she's losing her mind also ...

Hey there! It took only 2 of your videos to get me to subscribe lol. From the looks of it you've just started your channel, but I can already see it has a lot of potential. Your new house looks like it's coming along fine, and I like your sense of humor with the sketches and all. I myself am still in an orientation phase as far as moving to the Philippines goes, so, I definitely appreciate some good info on anything that has to do with starting over in the Philippines. Good luck to you over there! ~Mike H.

Do people ever build basements in the Philippines? It would be good to have some kind of safe room for typhoons and emergencies.

Workers disappearing pretty common. They will come back when it's time to get paid. Anyone having work done in the Philippines, take this into account or take it for what it is...A few days wages for a couple of guys is around $20 dollars USD. It may be a wash for you verse anger and them not wanting to work for you again. Common for the guys to be no shows completely or half day....Red Horse effect. I’m a bit surprised they did not take the tin for their families. Looks like a few pieces are usable.

I'm not actually paying the roof and ceiling guys directly, I paid for them lump sum, by the job. But the scraps are still there. Probably going to use on a dirty kitchen.
