I think a big case of where my overthinking will come from personally is when I manage to make a friend and they seem to start drifting apart from me and then I just will immediately assume they're tired of me and are trying to politely ghost me or something because I'm insecure with these types of things. Almost every friend I've made in real life just seems to mysteriously disappear after being friends for a while? Maybe I really am looking way too deep into this. But the one experience that solidified that fear for me was when I saw a friend that I hadn't seen until after quarantine and I was trying to think of what to talk about but I couldn't think of anything good and I think I may have weirded them out and blew it. That was painful. 😓

I'm the exact same. I drift apart from my friends too, and idk if the problem is with me not being an easy or interesting person to talk to, or if they don't actually like me. I think what helps is reminding myself that, if the other person is a mature adult, I can just ask them directly about anything I'm feeling insecure about. If they handle it poorly, they're a bad friend; if they lie... then I guess I'll enjoy their company while it lasts lol that was their chance to set boundaries. Life is too short to play emotional games with people like that. Maybe you could try texting your friend and ask them plainly if they thought you were too weird or awkward that time. The worst that can happen is a moment of embarrassment; the best that can happen is you reconnect and be good friends for many years.
