+Barista of the Cafe, It certainly gave it a breath of fresh air, though I disliked how they just...kept on going with it. Compile, on the other hand, was slowly getting better. The first game looked nice, the second game had more content, the third stepped things up a bit and the fourth made Arle mature a lot. Then that was all thrown away when Sonic Team got their hands on it. And, despite Compile existing again, they refuse to give them rights to the series, despite them also owning the rights to the Madou Monogatari series; of which, these characters came from. Confuses the hell out of me, but it is what it is. They also took away all the monsters in favor of human or humanoid characters, removing the links it had to Madou Monogatari altogether.

@@Medachod I know that this is a 2 year old comment, but still: Are you *sure* you trust modern Compile? 2010s Compile? Maybe Puyo isn't exactly in the best hands right now (although I don't really think Puyo's really had a *bad* game done by Sonic Team), but I sure as hell prefer Puyo being handled by Sonic Team over it being handled by the people behind Hyperdimension Neptunia. If Compile got their hands on Puyo nowadays, we wouldn't get more Puyo games like SUN and yon, it'd be more like we'd see copy-paste Puyo games released every couple of months full of fanservice and DLC up the butt and Puyo characters appearing as cameos in whatever they can get their hands on so milk the franchise dry in a few years.

@@FamilyTeamGaming As you said yourself, this is a "two year old" comment, so naturally I have different information that has changed my faith in Compile Heart doing the series justice. Most notably, that Niitani Masamitsu has formed a new company called COMPILE〇 and has made a new puzzle series called Nyoki Nyoki on the 3DS, with a sequel coming to Switch at some point. It looks very interesting and has some of the spirit I grew to love from the original Puyo Puyo games. I'm well aware Compile Heart won't be able to do anything with the series since none of the original Puyo Puyo development team is there anymore, but I imagine COMPILE〇 would do the series more justice since the creator himself is there. Naturally, meaning he'd know how to continue the original games after Puyo Puyo~n, assuming he is even interested in doing so. It's the same reasons why I am choosing to follow Bloodstained instead of Castlevania going forward, due to the same developers being involved. And in that regard, Nyoki Nyoki feels like the Puyo Puyo I have missed for years, as far as charm goes. At the end of the day, a video game can be very appealing to me and I can follow a long-running franchise, but once the creator, notable key staff or both depart, differences begin to grow apparent. Even if I also do enjoy the style Sonic Team gave the series, I treat it separately from the original games, as it also does by removing the majority of the monster and only adding in human-esque characters, noticeably different soundtracks and so on. Minor quibbles, of course. I never hated or disliked any of the Sonic Team Puyo Puyo games, as the writing in character dialogue is still pretty similar to the ones by Compile, not being nearly as much of a deviation to the series as Lords of Shadow was to Castlevania. And I may continue to support them due to the fact that, treating it as a reboot instead of a continuation of the original Puyo Puyo series, has made it much easier to adjust to the changes. And I can still happily believe the true series ended after Puyo Puyo~n, where Arle became an adult and a true mage. Due to the massive differences in design, soundtrack and other things, it wouldn't surprise me if, should Masamitsu be involved in an entry, they'd decide to label the two separately. Sonic Team simply changed the series too much for it to make sense for Masamitsu to make a sequel in its style. So, as of this point in time, I still like to support Puyo Puyo, but will now also support Nyoki Nyoki as well. Unlike other franchises I have followed that suffered notable losses in key staff, Sonic Team at least managed to succeed at rebooting it in a more positive light. For you see, if they did continue the main games, I want to say they could've done it well, since Everybody Puyo Puyo was actually very good and faithful to a Compile entry, before the deviation in art style. With this in mind then, I want to believe a lot of the original Puyo Puyo developers are still present at Sonic Team, meaning they could have chosen to reboot the series out of fear they'd disrespect the original games' lore, which was a very respectful thing to do if so. But, the idea of Niitani Masamitsu wanting to do Puyo Puyo again is just as much of a pipe dream as Yasuhiro Wada producing Harvest Moon again. I have no faith it will ever happen and believe Puyo Puyo and Nyoki Nyoki will be independent series for as long as they last.
