I love how the opening video portrays Arle. The Puyo Puyo series are not exactly consistent about Arle's personality and out of the different ones portrayed trough the series, I prefer this one.

+Crystalgate I feel like Arle did not change that much, look at Dark Prince. In the older games he was simply in love with Arle, but in the modern games, Arle is a literal obsession to him.

I mean, the man actually thinks Arle would find him pulling a Tuxedo Mask to be cool. And that she DIDN'T know his identity. Not gonna lie, i prefer the new Puyo Puyo games by a long shot, but i think it would be SUPER creative if they would've kept doing these anime intros. Especially with the Primp and Suzuran characters. Would be quite interesting, i think.

Puyo Puyo is the kind of series that by all accounts should have absolutely made gangbusters with an anime. An old fashioned comedy/action kind of anime like Dr. Slump or Classic Dragonball would be the perfect place to expand on all the characters. Hell, if they did it now, they could even bring back some of the Compile era characters like Minatoros, Skeleton-T and Doppleganger Arle.

Clearly you've never played the modern Puyo games... I mean Arle is still the adorable tomboy we all love, Shezo is still as pervy as ever, Drago remains the same girl who loves beauty contests and enjoys competition, and the new characters are very interesting. Only Fever feels different since Sonic Team wanted to do something different with the series. Also the story in the modern Puyo games does NOT involve the player to save the world (except Tetris and maybe Chronicle).
