[Puyo Puyo Tetris] The Miracle Comeback

I've had a lot of crazy comebacks in this game, but this one is definitely the craziest. After a mistake that should have lost the game, a little skill and a lot of luck let me bring it all the way back.

Puyo Tetris was the first time I ever picked up Puyo, but somehow managed to be better at that than Tetris. Granted I've never played battle tetris before, but I guess Puyo just clicked for me more.

I was gonna post the same, even i am better at Tetris than that guy and i never was any good at Tetris. I mean i am alright, but the moment i watch someone actually good at the game i cry. My puyo puyo skills are very bad though, i have trouble making a 4 chain.

I'm in the same boat oddly. I never grew up playing tetris, I grew up playing dr.robotniks mean bean machine and puyo pop fever. And I always stuck with it, I still love puyo puyo, however I'm pretty bad at tetris. lol

My guess is that it's because of margin time, a mechanic which as the match goes on increase the amount of garbage you send. Originally the concept was for arcade machines, to encourage people to finish their matches quicker and place more money into the machine. But, since this match went on for 4 minutes, margin time would definitely be noticeable.

Oh right, that's because the garbage transferred over to Tetris once it swapped, which wasn't enough to push to top. Once the swap back to Puyo happened there was no more garbage to drop.

Benches Yeah I play PPT myself, I’m just surprised he was both lucky and smart enough to take the star in damage, have tetrises and other things ready for defense, and then be able to take the garbage back to the enemy side to win

You just have to get used to them. c: You have more strength in Puyo Puyo what with causing harrassment to the other player, but it is a little tougher to grab them. All in all, the idea is to plan ahead.

Fun story: I was Tetris player, but I sucked. Then I got this game. I slowly realized I was much better at puyo puyo. I now happily defeat my friends in this game

Watching the guy on the right was interesting. I'm like "hm this must not be very high tier play because his tetris is lacking" and then I look over and realize his opponent built a goddamn skyscraper.

If this game does not come out of Japan, one can 'rest' assured that SEGA won't even try to make Puyo Puyo's potential popularity I mean, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche did very well. Why not this?

Well, SEGA did localized their music rhythm game called Project DIVA...twice. So, it still a possibility, even if Sonic isn't involved in, and these Japanese singers aren't from them at all.

Combo or chain? A 4 combo is easy. It only deals 1-2 lines/1-3 Garbage puyo. A 4 - wide combo, is unsurvivable.

Another great Puyo game that won't be relased in the West. Something wrong with SEGA. Even Nintnendo are guilty of this to adegree, they have the great game Panel De Pon, and after Pokemon Puzzle League they just ended it, apart from bland generic puzzle league on the DS.

We already have VS2! No gimmicks, just pure online puyo goodness! I think Tetris is a decent game in it's own right and Puyo is the greatest puzzler ever conceived by man but I don't think they combine well, just my opinion, you are entitled to yours, would be nice if Sega gave the west an official game, but VS2 is made for online gaming, whether with friends or as part of an online community it is streamlined for online play. What more do you need? Hernan should take over the Puyo branch of Sonic Team, he knows how it should be done!

Gamble It sounds like you are saying because VS2 is out, we don't need another official Puyo Puyo game. First of all VS2 is a great substitute. Easy online play, chat options, ability to add modded characters/skins..... But Hernan said he isn't going to ever update the game except to fix bugs etc. This means that the game still requires mandatory installation and download of characters and music. This is more hassle than the retail version. Also there are no modes from the console versions, such as treasure or 20th co-op or ice etc. There's no Puyo 7 transformation mode. It's just basic puyo2 and fever, which is good enough, but I and many others obviously didn't mind the other puyo games adding a whole lot of bells and whistles. There are a few other problems like the controller support isn't quite up to scratch. And on older computers it can freeze the game (not lag) for 3 seconds sometimes. No story mode. To you this is irrelevant, but there are a lot of fans of the puyo story. How would we know about Schezo's fail at expressing his desire without a proper story? I know VS2 is free. That's great. It's certainly a great game for free. But clearly people don't mind paying for a proper Puyo game. VS2 will always be around, so you can always enjoy it. And I think you missed the first word I used. ANOTHER. This means the west has missed out on many puyo games in the past, and I am stating that it is annoying that we've missed out on another one. Please don't respond if you think I am attacking VS2 because that's pointless, I am not attacking VS2, I am simply stating why we should not just ignore the official Puyo games that SEGA continue to make.

Why no western release? :( Its not fair we have to port these games or even worse pirate them because they don't want to make western ports. This game will be appreciated by both hardcore and casual players. The tetris feature will pretty much win the casual players matches with its simply to play style and no need to make giant chains to win. Come on! we want Puyo Puyo Tetris! I want it...TnT it's a shame the games I love so much isn't even in my region...Sega why limit your fans? we aren't all idiots over here...some of us enjoy these types of games...i'm tired of these stupid facebook puzzle games that I have to wait hours or days to play it...Give us some good quality puzzle games already. I just say that because it's quite unlikely that you draw 4 of the same color in 3 pieces (at 1:48, and technically I could've placed 4 pieces), and then being able to draw pieces to make a 5 chain at 2:04 was extremely good luck, having to draw a blue piece and then yellow red, yellow red exactly. In puyo puyo it's not uncommon to go several pieces without getting just one of the color you want so drawing a string of 5 necessary colors is really amazing. Then after that it was pretty much an even match.
