Ive come up with a big improvement for the corners. Take a 1 x 1 Brick with studs on all sides to fix the triangles. Then stick inverted 1 x 1 cones with bar into the remaining 2 sidestuds. The Cones will connect to the surface 2 x 2 round plates, improving stability bigtime, while also giving you the crucial rounded edges, that are so nessesary for smooth turing. This construction makes the corners very stable.

isn't there only room for 1 brick width? those cones look like 1 brick height (1 brick width + 1x2 plate height) besides wouldn't you only be able to connect 1 since the bar part would go too far, meaning others wouldnt be able to stick in all the way? as well, what would you stick on the bottom of the brick with studs on all sides, since there's one side with an opening? just wondering

I have mi doubts about this becoming an actual Lego set because Lego has various requirements about strength and playability.

^ this. although the project is very clever, it is very fragile and will probably disintegrate after the first fall on the floor
@jantemili3 жыл бұрын
@@tomozex most builds from ideas wouldn't survive a fall i think but then, those are mostly display pieces, and this one is meant to be handled... we'll see. dropping a real cube isn't too good for the mechanism too, isn't it

@Digital Inclusion about copyright issues I think they can just get a license from the copyright holders like they did with others ideas sets
@Turambar37913 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the idea is the idea lego may could improve this design to match those requirements :D

There's always the chance that Lego come up with a new piece that would make it work even better.

This looks awesome, but i'm quite concerned about the structural integrity of the pieces since the mechanism seem to connect to each face by only a single stud...

The person (or wild dog) who taught you the Cube will be expecting a 20 minute solve next weekend, (and half the proceeds from this project).

Looks too fragile to be considered, however people from LEGO helping design & improve the build is all a part of the process, so I am very hopeful!

With 1x1 quarter-circle plates (plus 2x2 corner tiles) you could curve only the corners of the colored tiles you need, whilst keeping the rest square.
