The Alert jersey is inspired by the Ottawa Alerts back in the early 1900s. They had a sash jersey like that.

I don't think the PWHL will end up using these names after all, since they were rather poorly received when they leaked. But if they do, Montréal's team is definitely going to be the "Écho" with an accute accent, not the "Echo". Especially with how the name "Montréal" itself has the accent on the "é" on their current jerseys, they'll make sure to use the French variant of the word.

The Minnesota one complements the Minnesota NHL one since the Wild logo is a stylized version of the western side of Lake Superior.

Toronto is super close to the Toronto rock jersey and the Minnesota jersey is almost the same jersey as the Milwaukee Muskies lol

The wicked jersey color scheme is great. I’m not sure a witch is too offensive or anything. Makes sense with the name and the history of the Salem witch trials and everything. Superior jersey looks good. The rest are horrible especially the Torch

Unfortunately the only thing red that should be on a Toronto hockey sweater is a a maple Leaf. The Torch should be double blue. So the red replaced by Oxford Blue.

I'm just fed up with Montreal's colour scheme used by almost every pro teams in Montreal since forever but I have no hope this will change soon. Montreal flowers could be great (referring to Guy Lafleur) with the theme and color scheme of the Montreal city flag and a stylized n° 10 as shoulder patch

Based on the early names that leaked. Don't like the Wicked name - it's a bit too cheesy for the region, and technically an adverb lol. And I agree - I wouldn't like the association. If they want spooky (because of Salem MA), Boston Banshees is where it's at 👻

The only issue with the name Toronto Torch is in french Torch can be translated as a slur to mean fat or disgusting. "The team will certainly face criticism related to the derogatory slur toward women which comes with translating their Toronto Torch name to French in both Montreal and Ottawa" From - The Hockey News.

Also Montreal has a history with the torch ceremony and torch quote in their dressing room etc, so to have a torch logo for a Toronto team, with Montreal Canadiens colours as well seems wrong.

They have many places that have name 'ECHO' attached to them, also Cirque du Soleil had or has a show call ECHO that is performed in Old Port in Montreal

I’m from Quebec and I’ve still have to find what Echo (Écho) would relate too. Maybe has something to do with aviation, radar or else. Frankly, I don’t know.

OK I'm griping on the pwhl why. There intent was to not post a verbal name on the women's hockey team. There precurse league PWF or NWHL had alot of potential and more so about their funds to keep teams names for city's they play at. I got asked for the the Toronto 6 and Buffalo beauts to come up with ideas on there jersey designs. I did them all because they were sponsored by dunkin and pressed it towards college hockey players. The women of hockey loved the idea but it got shot down because the PWHL just wanted to keep the league. Team color and location!... So as a designer I see they don't care about, makes me sad but if we can talk to them ladies and gents we can get team names. Not just a color and location.

@@Post2PostProductions I understand the whole marketing exercise of it all, but its just going too deep. So many things rhyme with everything and if we’re being so cautious, all names and branding will be soulless. Some of the best team logos, names and identities came before “marketing” was an industry in the same sense. So many women dress up as witches for halloween, I dint think anyone will take offence to the witch motif, rhyming be damned.

PWHL?? Pfft I’m out. I don’t want to watch men knit, for the same reason I don’t want to watch women play hockey. Not saying both parties aren’t talented, simply, I just don’t care and there is zero entertainment there
