I really did enjoy that. There's something about gearboxes..... Nicely filmed too - it was very easy to follow. Thanks again!

Another well done from me, I am very curious to your hypothesis of what caused the issues “ as told to me when I got this engine”. Thank You for sharing your talents here on KZbin.

Thanks Max. My final thoughts on what actually happened to the engine come later !

Seems the funny square washer at end of xmas tree shaft, (on outside next to clutch) is a retro-designed crude way to transfer away any stress on xmas tree shaft as it comes through its thin casing, onto both the final drive casing and also the outer edge of the clutch housing - for relief at gear changes etc. So it must be rotated to contact both these surfaces, before tightening.

I've never seen the sense in a 2-stroke oil supply. All too easy to run out and destroy an engine. Far safer to take the effort and make petroil. (They used to have 2-stroke pumps at petrol stations, back in the day, which made life simple). Interesting video, sir. Thanks.

Yeah, I remember the oil pumps very well when I started out on my FS1E. Petrol was 67 pence a gallon. Pretty much fill the tank for a quid! I feel so old I am going for a lie down now......

Don't remember them Bill, must have been before my time, I just remember the yellow ( ? ) wheeled tanks that they brought to your bike ( or Wartburg ) selected the ratio and dumped an amount of oil into your tank.
