It would be good to see a single scaled graphic with the different iron heads showing their respective heat maps when you finish testing, thanks.

Jay, Awesome video as always. your 80 mph swing nearly matches my custom fit 2021 Titleist T100S irons, from early 2023 indoors on Trackman: CHS = 80.3 mph, Ball speed = 108.6 mph, Smash = 1.35, Carry = 152.6 yds, Total = 163.5 yds., Launch angle = 17.6, spin = 5150, height = 74 ft., Land Ang. = 42.6, Attack Ang. = -3.5. Land Angle is slightly lower than 45 deg, this is a 3 shot average. My Consistency is 2.7 yds for carry which is great. My T100S 7 iron is the same at 32 deg loft. These PXG 0317 Tour irons would def be a good replacement for me, but holding on to my T100S irons until the grooves wear out or until i retire in 3 - 4 years whichever comes first !

Great review. The heat map shows things very well and easy to understand where to hit and where not to miss. I have these irons and they are great, very compact and I not much of a drop off in forgiveness from my old 790’s. I wish they had a bit more spin for more consistent flight but much better than my old 790’s.

I’ve gamed these for just short of a year and love them.

Really nice again, what about comparison with the Edel SMS (Swing Match System) Irons and how different setup/swing weighting effects the heat maps ? Nice one because you're not shaft specific.

I gamed the gen3 T irons for a couple years (just recently replaced) and they've always done basically exactly what these do. I'm glad since they finally aren't hideous to look at, people are finally starting to give them attention.

Wow👍... and again great work! Thanks for your effort! As I understand, the Tour-Version is more forgiving than the P-Version? According to the heat-map. From my point of view this would be one of the best irons for me? Swingspeed around 70 mph, HC 25. I didn´t see any other iron with a functional decent angle. Or have I just missed a thought here?

It wont surprise jay.. yes I used to have these too, good but the CB’s are lots better in-terms of feel and enjoyment! Still hot the CB’s although they have just gone on ebay👍

Glad to see you've added another manufacturer to your arsenal. Shame Titleist won't get on board to YT's best reviewer. I have a piggy back question about your best of players iron test that will decide my next purchase. The zx7 performed very well when compared to the i230, mp243 and cobra tour. My question is about extrapolating the forgiveness to the shorter clubs. The zx7 was tested with an iron that still had tungsten in it but after that it becomes a one piece forged with no tech per say. Whereas, the i230 and cobra tour keep the microslot and other tech through the gap wedge. Do you feel that the forgiveness gap would increase between the i230 and cobra tour in the shorter irons compared to the zx7?

Good day from the States Jay. You do excellent work on displaying to your audience total performance of golf equipment. Because of that, I have a request. Do to cancer, I had to have part of a kidney removed recently. For whatever reason, that has my body pulling away from the ball at impact...leading to my misses being out toward the toe of the club. I am replacing my irons and was hoping you could point me in the direction of which clubs perform the best on strikes toward the toe. I'm a 14 handicap, however the irons are one of the stronger parts of my game. Clubs I've considered Callaway Apex 200 or 300, Cobra King Tec and Tec X as well as PXG. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great content and thanks. George

Hi george , i would suggest joining the AGN discord for free , it would be easier to help you and answer back and forth questions from there. heres the link to discord discord.com/invite/ZJJ8E8u3c3 . Jay and i would be happy to guide you.

Hi George, sorry to hear of your recent health issues and hope and wish you all the best in the future. I regards to your request for a functionally useful iron that, works well from toe strikes, there is also many other functions that you also need to compare and measure up against what you need from an iron. I also measure and compare Launch Factor, Face Speed and Spin Factor of the irons. There are so many combinations to list on a KZbin comment, so I would suggest if it's OK to join as a KZbin Member and then you get access to my website that gives you the ability to compare directly all of the current irons I have tested (approaching 50 irons now on the list) and depending on what tier you are comfortable with will give you access to all the available data you need 👍

Hi Jay how are ya ? Well i am looking for new irons I have had my stealths for 3 years now its time trying to decide between the 4 sets PXG GEN 7 XP or Black OPS or Taylormade P-790's or THE ELEVENS hybrid irons which do you think is best for my 77-80 mph 7 iron swing I am 59 and a 8 handicap i am looking for forgiveness and distance which should i lean too what are your takes on these ? what order would you rate them ? thx Jay cheers from Vulcan Canada

Great. Will you be going a review on PXG fairway woods and Hybrid ………please😊

Possibly! Depends on the appetite for them. If the iron and Driver videos get enough traction then it will be worth me spending the time reviewing them 👍

Hi.. i am thinking to get either 0317T or the 0311P.. i have tested only the 0311P , the feel is ok but not as soft as a P770 or a P770. Do you think the forgiveness of 0317T is better or same as the 0311p? i see the heat map of this is better than your review of the 0311p? somehow more forgiving? and also is the feel a lot better than the 0311p or just similar?

For a low price of the Bronze channel membership, you can then view and compare all 50 of our heatmaps on askgolfnut.com/

Obviously I'd have to shamelessly plug the new website www.askgolfnut.com where all the heat map comparison and advanced flight characteristic data is held. Radar charts to visually compare irons and their differences amongst other tools. These are available for my KZbin Members to access at tier level depending on what they want to access. The feel of the T is considerably better than the P. The Forgiveness on the T from memory is very good considering and slightly better than the P but without consulting the website, that's from memory 👍
@chrismccarthy1535Ай бұрын
The heat map for this compared to either P or XP looks more forgiving? Especially low and toe.
@wadepreston340129 күн бұрын
This catches me off guard, when you compare the heat map of this to the 0311P, this appears to be a much more forgiving iron than the 0311P, even though it is a much thinner club. I am a mid handicap, which means I am not going to hit the middle of the club as often., but even though this the more players option, it looks like I would be better of with the 0317T over the 0311P. Am I missing something? By the way, great job of reviewing all of these.
@AskGolfNut29 күн бұрын
You aren't wrong. This is common especially within the Game Improvement sector comparing the other categories. The great thing with objective measurement is the frequency of myth busting that happens. The T is actually more Forgiving than the P but the P has a much better Launch Factor (I also measure Launch Factor, Spin Factor and relative Face Speed which is available to see for my KZbin Members to access on my website). Just a note, that handicap is an incredibly terrible metric to use as a guide for what equipment you can use. Commonly also the Players Cavity sector is seen as much less forgiving than a Game Improvement actually perform much better and also give other benefits. As the years go on and I test more and more clubs it's so interesting to see how the range of irons within manufacturers line up do compared to each other, not always showing the objective measured characteristics that the marketing would have to believe 👍

2012 Taylormade Tour Preferreds had a changable weight in the same position.
@AskGolfNut26 күн бұрын
Definitely where PXG got the idea from 😊 it's a brilliant adjustment to have especially within the fitting process as swing weight is so unappreciated in how much difference it actually makes. Can be the make or break of a fitting even more than the bend profile of shafts 👍
@guywhittern2800Ай бұрын
One thing I never quite understand is the weight. Given it can be moved to be heavier or lighter, does that not alter the playability of the club I.e. a heavy weight puts relatively more weight low and central on the face which must change the characteristics of the design? Don’t know.
@AskGolfNutАй бұрын
So technically yes, however 😊, the change in weight between the lightest and heaviest has a much larger affect on the feel of the club as in swing weight than it does to the actually CG of the head. Relative to the head mass the weight is a small percentage and they aren't changing its position only the amount of weight. So CG will change slightly but in no way by large amounts 👍

Wonder why other manufacturers don’t chamfer the top lines in their game improvement irons? For older players who have been playing blades moving in to game improvement irons this feature is almost necessary. It’s basic common sense
@johngenc3782Ай бұрын
Great clubs, but the pricing doesn't match its relative quality. Realistically, no better than a Callaway or Mizuno, but it's double the price.
@canyonaroАй бұрын
These are $180/club. Very similar to Titleist & TaylorMade prices.

Interesting comment as in the UK at least the compare pretty favourably 🤷 interested to know what area of the world you are saying this is the case? 👍
